Great beach area
May 2021
Good stretch of beach which on the surface appeared clean but we just walked it. Would recommend checking tide times if you plan on visiting with children.

Never busy
Apr 2021
It’s a dramatic and clean beach, accessible even at high tide. Safe parking. Clean loos now open after lockdown and cleaned.
Great when the Shire horses exercise .
Nice view back onto Black Combe
Beach cafe looks great.

Beautiful beach and adjacent dune system. Lots of opportunities for wildlife watching. Dogs off leads can be an issue but most are well behaved. Look out for dragonflies in the autumn and large flocks of waders as winter approaches.

My kind of beach!
Sep 2020 • Friends
Living in Northumberland I'm spoilt for beaches so when I find a beach I am prepared to review it's a fairly rare occurrence! The beach was clean, there was not a lot of dog waste, the locals were friendly, there were some lovely shells and an abundance of flora in the dunes. I only walked for an hour along the beach as I wasn't confident enough about the tides to head further out on the sandbanks. Being a supporter of the RNLI I'm not impressed by visitors who go off piste then end up needing rescued! But there is so much beach and dunes that you really don't need to risk heading out into the estuary area.

lovely beach
Aug 2020 • Family
Beach is pebbled some days and lovely and golden sands in another, just depends on how rough the sea is, if its ruff it brings lovely sand all over next day, clean and big dunes, dog friendly but no poop .

The Beach Cafe at Haverigg Beach
Aug 2020
Most of the restaurants and cafe are still closed due to Covid, the cafe was recommended as somewhere the did a great breakfast. We went and were not disappointed . Local ingredients, well cooked, good friendly customer service. A sausage, bacon, egg, toast, mushrooms and tomato breakfast for 2 people with tea for around £11/£12 - what’s not to like

Good for a walk
Aug 2020
Firstly, Haverigg isn't a particularly busy resort, it's a village of just over 1000 people, but don't let that put you off as it is a good place for a long beach walk, it is possible to walk as far as Bootle( 6 miles away), and there is a very good walk around the lagoon to the old lighthouse and beyond. As the weather was nice, I clocked up 4 miles along the beach and the path around the lagoon, and Haverigg is ideal for dog walkers. Also the views are excellent, as you can see Walney Island, Barrow, Black Combe and Corney Fell on a fine day. However, do be aware the tide can come in quickly and to keep near the shore. Note as well, you do need a car to get to Haverigg as the railway station in Millom is 3 miles away.

Other good points are free parking, a very reasonably priced beach cafe, a Londis and a cash machine in the village. Also available at Port Haverigg lagoon are water ski ing and boating.

Not much here

Rather desolate place, not really a beach. Stopped off to stretch our legs after a long drive and get some fresh air.

Huge beach with sand dunes, stones, shells. More for walking than sitting I would say. Nice and clean.
