I ran up Place Fell from Patterdale this morning, reaching the summit at just after 7am and sat by the Trig Point. The view was amazing, the silence even more so. I was 2000ft up and alone. It was an amazing moment I savoured for...More

An easy walk from Bridgend in Patterdale, across fields, follow the pipeline path and up to Place Fell. Great views along Ullswater and across Martindale.

Not the steepest and not the highest, but definitely worth the trip for its wonderful views of Ullswater both from summit and whilst walking on the lower path back to Patterdale.

We did the circular route up from Patterdale via Boredale Hause and then on to High Dodd and back via Ullswater shore path. Steep at times but worth it for the views over Ullswater.

Hiked this fell on a lovely clear day. Chilly at the top and a bit of snow but an exhilarating ascent and fantastic views at the top.

We have been climbing Place Fell for almost 30 years, fantastic views whatever time of year, although we prefer it in the Snow.

Staying in Patterdale this is a must do walk for unsurpassed views of the Hellvellyn range. Good, well defined paths and can be walked as a circular or linear route be using the Ullswater Steamer service.

We followed a route published in the Pathfinder guide, "More Lake District Walks". The route to the top from Patterdale is hard work but the path is clear and made up. There is a rocky scramble at the top but rewarded by super views of...More

Worth the climb. Steep section thst involves a bit of climbing. Take care on descent back to Boredale Hause as stones underfoot can slip and slide.
