Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There wasn't much to do in Sedbergh towards the end of lockdown but we found ourselves in this lovely bookshop. The staff were friendly and courteous and we lost ourselves among the shelves for a pleasant hour. They have a super local interest section.

Good to see that this excellent independent bookshop has survived CoV & is thriving. Lovely to have the freedom to walk around again, yet still being very CoV safe. I went in looking for maps & have come out with those & a list of birthday present “wants”!

Unbelievable! Drove there especially and it was definitely worth it. For the first time in years a proper bookshop where the staff are informed and know their authors, have an unusually wide range of books from Cocteau, Stephen King, Eric Mendelsohn, Dick Wilson to more. Left with a box of books and extremely happy.
Just 10 miles from Kendal.

We came for the books and weren't disappointed. This place is huge, more like a warehouse than a shop. Fantastic for book lovers to loiter and browse.

Really glad we came to visit Westwood Books. This bookstore sells second hand/used books. It had only just opened on a Sunday morning when we visited, so there was just me and my husband wandering around. I love reading and was so impressed with the sheer volume and variety of subjects wish I would have had more time to spend browsing. Nonetheless managed to walk away happy with a backpack full of books,

A bookshop that everyone can enjoy covering a wide range of subjects from history, topography, children's books, travel, sport, science, medicine and more. Westwood books has a great selection of popular and classic fiction at low prices, and a fantastic selection of antiquarian books.

I'll use any excuse to spend time in a bookshop but today was guilt free as it was pouring down outside. This large, two storey bookshops has an excellent range of books at very good prices. There's a coffee machine downstairs and comfortable seating upstairs so you can spend as long as you like.

We called at Westwood books while passing through Sedburgh on our way to Kendal....what an amazing shop.We actually called to show the owner some local pictures so I had time to look around while my husband was busy! As an ex-librarian, this was a paradise for me and on my next visit I will ensure that I have more time to study the vast selection of books and related goods. It is so good to find a 'real' bookshop with helpful and knowledgable staff. Our visit was all too short [maybe because my husband knew he would have lost me for hours in there!!]

Found lovely Postcards, note paper and decently priced used books. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Large section on walks and history of the area.

Stumbled across westwood books looks new from the outside but old book collectors don't be put off. This is a traditional old book shop t it's heart brought upto date with quiet places to read coffee if you get thirsty as time will pass quickly.
There is plenty for everyone with extremely helpful owners. Prices reasonable and just a great place to spend an afternoon (for bookworms) come rain or shine.
