Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Love this old style cinema, from the old ticket machines to the friendly staff. The screen is a good size and the sound impressive for such an old building. I like the intermission, it should be brought back at all cinemas! Time for refreshments and a wee.👌

Amazing experience. Really friendly people, a wonderful welcome. Fantastic range of snacks and drinks. You can feel the history in the place. Loved the whole experience from the real tickets to the posters on the wall. The interval should be brought back to all screens! Thank you Roxy, you put a big smile on our faces.

We saw that the first Harry Potter film was showing and as our children had not seen it, it was perfect so we decided to go. We loved the whole experience from start to finish. The price was reasonable at £24 for a family of 4, we were greeted warmly and given proper tickets, you can sit where you like and we got some fab seats. The staff were lovely and the snacks and drinks were a reasonable price, which is unusual for a cinema. We don't usually buy confectionery or drinks for cinemas as they are extortionate but we didn't mind paying these prices at all. Really recommend, it sent me right back to when I went to the cinema as a child. Thank you.

This is an amazing Cinema, a real nostalgia trip for those of us old enough to remember the times before multiplex cinemas and streaming channels and a great experience for those who don’t. The traditional interval is great for stocking up on ice cream and snacks from the Usherette Tray adding to the overall experience. The screen and sound system are also fantastic. What more can I say - never change Roxy!

The cinema is no longer a cinema per se, but is now home to the Laurel & Hardy Museum.

It costs only £5 each for ‘seniors’ it was good value. The old cinema smells very fusty and damp inside but the exhibits are quite interesting. There is a continuous loop of Laurel & Hardy films showing in the cinema which is perfect for fans. There is also plenty of memorabilia to see as well as old newspaper cuttings. There is a bronze statue of them nearby, just a couple of streets away.

Ulverston's best kept secret - a gem and a brilliant place to enjoy a movie. We watched the first screening of 'No time to die' - the cinema was busy but not full. The screen is huge, sound quality excellent but the atmosphere in this beautiful old cinema is the best. The staff are outstanding - seats are comfortable and the intermission complete with usher selling ice creams from a tray was a welcome blast from the past. You don't need to wait for a rainy day in the Lakes to visit this cinema, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful cinema, lovely staff and a reasonable price.
One small suggestion, the sound could do with being a little louder.

I would highly recommend going to here if you want a lovely experience, the screen was colossal, the staff was kind and the sound was not loud nor quiet. The only thing I found bad was the stairs witch can be a bit steep.

Just went to watch a movie in the Roxy cinema for the first time it was great. The staff where very lovely, there were a nice and big cinema screen, there are bins around the screening and there was an intermission jouring the film which let me time to go the toilet without missing any of the film. I would definately go here again.
