Another place in the Lakes we always try to visit when having a explore, over the years we have enjoyed the cafe and exploring the colony wax shop, but this visit may the last, the cafe is now called Chandlers and seems to have lost its sparkle while also putting the prices up somewhat, Colony seem to have also changed... This was our first visit to the Colony Candle Outlet now re-named Wax Lyrical. What a section of candles, reeds, tea-lights and accessories. The outlet us such good value and there are present ideas and really something for everyone. This really is a lovely shop with a small selection of greeting cards, gift bags and jewellry. Well worth a visit.... More

I visited this factory 15 years ago and was a bit concerned that I wouldn't enjoy it this time round. I was pleased to see the train is still in situ although most of the rest of the shop was unrecognisable to me after so long. I needn't have worried though and spent an enjoyable hour or so perusing the... More

Visited last week and found many good value items available in the shop. Cafe next door very good with reasonably priced home made fare. This place is just for the purchase of candles and is not a shopping centre, and there is little else of interest in the area other than the glassworks at Ulverston, which is just a few... More

We've been travelling up to Lindal to the Colony shop at least 3 times a year for the last 5 years and really enjoyed filling our baskets with quality candles at bargain prices. However, after a 130 mile round trip this morning to the 'Wax Lyrical Factory Outlet' in Lindal we left seriously disappointed. The place was deserted and we... More

We were holidaying nearby, and happened to see the 'Candle Workshop' sign from the road and called in. A great selection of 'Wax Lyrical' candles and accessories at factory prices. Well worth a visit if you are into that sort of thing.
