We are a small, friendly company that specialises in tailoring courses to perfectly fit your needs. We offer personalised tuition in rock climbing and map reading and also multi-activity days for families and friends. Our courses are based throughout the Lake District. Come and try rock climbing, navigation courses, gorge walking, winter mountaineering, abseiling or a guided walk.

Did a two day Intro to Scrambling Course. It was so good.
On day one we did climbed up to Stickle Tarn and then up Jacks Rake to Pavey Ark. We were soaked through all day - wading through rivers and climbing up waterfalls that are meant to be dry paths!
Day two was mostly dry, thank goodness. I learnt to use ropes on day two, and various knots.
Nick was a very calm and patient teacher. Would definitely recommend this course!

We booked Nick for a family climbing day (Mum, dad, daughters aged 11 and 13). We had very little previous climbing experience but Nick chose a suitable location and we felt safe and confident. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Thanks Nick!

We booked a beginners navigation course with Nick as our map reading skills were non-existent. After one day he taught us all the basics and the next day we did an 8 mile hike over the Dodds without a hitch. Would recommend
to anyone looking to gain confidence in their map reading skills.

Great day climbing in the langdales with Nick! We’d booked a private day climbing for 4 people. Nick was very helpful giving advice and adapting to our abilities to keep the day fun and interesting. Overall, a fantastic day out and we’d definitely recommend booking with more than mountains.

A brilliant day on the beginners navigation course. Beautiful route taken. A small group meant you could get the mist out of the day. The pace and content of the day was just perfect and communication before the course was excellent. Thank you Nick and Jill.

Nick was absolutely fantastic. We had bought a navigation course for our friend’s birthday.
Nick quickly gauged what we needed as a group. His pace was perfect for us. We learnt a huge amount in the day we spent with him.
I would really recommend his bespoke navigation course - it was a brilliant experience.

What an incredible day we had with Nick. We took the one day climbing course in the Langdales and Nick described in easy to understand language how all the gear worked and its purpose, taught us some of the essential knots and then got us climbing ... safely! Nicks expertise and professionalism shine through and whether you want to go climbing or undertake another type of course with him I can only say it's worth every penny. Thanks for a great day Nick.

My husband and I completed a beginners navigation course with Jill in early March and we absolutely loved it. Jill was fantastic, very knowledgable, thorough, gave lots of hints and tips and by the end of the day we had learnt so many new things that we can now put into practice. Jill herself was very kind and patient and made the day really good fun. We can’t wait to do the intermediate course with her later this year. I would highly recommend ‘more than mountains’ for any mountain courses you may be considering! Well done team!
