We visited during a Cart Market event, and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the displays, and information detailing the beginning of the industrial revolution, but also at the extent and quality of the stalls at the craft event

Such a lot of history. It was great to see the looms and to find out about how the textile industry was built up in Belper. The displays were good. Sadly our tour guide got confused in several places and some of the displays/looms did not work so it probably could have been so much better. Despite this it was... More

This is my first time in a cotton mill and I found Strutt's North Mill in Belper to be very interesting. The original North Mill, completed in 1786 by Jedediah Strutt, was destroyed in 1803 by fire. Its replacement was built in 1804 by his son, William Strutt, on the site of the old mill and is one of the... More

Closed when I arrived on Tuesday after a long drive!! My fault - I should have checked the opening times! A 4-star rating based on the exterior building - very impressive red brick but I don't think I would have liked to have worked there. Car parking was not good as it shares with a children's play centre. Fortunately the... More

Just happened to pop in whilst parked nearby for another event. They had a craft fair on at the same time, which was lovely. The Mill itself was fascinating and the volunteers there were just so jovial and helpful. My 11 year old was very interested. I will go again for a longer visit.

Great historic cotton mill on the edge of Belper. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable guided to take you through the building a pity so much of the machinery has gone. Small shop and drinks available

What a joyous surprise . My brother in law was visiting from Devon ,trying to find somewhere and different for us to see I happened upon Strutts North Mill . What an amazing insight into the history of the mills that we probably just drive past without much thought . These huge monster buildings were once the heart of the... More

This museum was on my list of places to visit while in UK because of a historical family link. Excellent place for anyone to visit however. Machinery and working examples of the equipment used. Hands on. Good visuals and displays. Docent tours at no extra cost and only $6 to tour.

My family and I were looking for something to do locally on a Saturday afternoon. Having previously visited Arkwright's Mills in Cromford, we had the idea of visiting Strutt's North Mill in Belper. Although we only live locally we had never visited before but I am so glad that we did! The entrance fee of £4 is very reasonable. We... More

The mill itself is not very big, but what they have is fantastic. Knowledgeable Guides and friendly staff. Refreshments and souvieneers on site. It's a must see and a very good entrance fee, only £5 all in. When you have finished in the mill, go take a walk around the river gardens. Tranquil and beautiful.
