Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good views across reservoir and some farmland. Good visibility of old farm buildings at low water. Outstanding route to nearby Calke. Easy circular route available (three styles) for the shorter walk.
Large play area available, with varied activities across the age range.
Caution required when parking - it is NOT free. Cafe nearby is ok but NT, which is reflected in the costs. Toilets available.

nearest place to a beach in the midlands with muddy sand and shells on the shore surrounded by a wide forestry landscape. This is clean non-alge water suitable for dogs to swim in and you can park in a nearby car park-just dont park in Calke Abbey itll charge you more.

Felt like a day at the beach. Lovely walk and quiet spot to just sit and chill / enjoy a picnic.
Dog loved it. Park for the kids. Cafe too and parking was £3 all day and that's it to pay.

Well went to Staunton Harold on a red hot sunny Friday afternoon hoping to have a walk with a nice cold ice cream, well although all the umbrellas were out the cafe was closed at 1530 on a Friday afternoon, opening time was posted but no closing time which is really disappointing.
Needless to say I shall not make the effort to use the cafe again.

How do you build a regular customer base when no one knows when your open to.

We had been a here before but stayed longer this time and did a different walk. plenty of parking, some informative boards on use of water and the work of Severn Trent which make interesting reading. The walks are well signposted and all give good views of the lake and its wildlife. We didn't visit the cafe , it is run by the NT now, usual NT fare available.

If I could give the cafe a zero I would!
Walked in on Saturday afternoon to NO FOOD…actually I tell a lie there were a couple of gingerbread men in packets. What kind of cafe has no food?!
One member of staff was literally sat on top of a table offering no help whatsoever.
Absolutely terrible. We had already paid £3 for parking in the hope that we could have got a lunchtime snack!!!!
Will never return. Such a shame, as the walk was lovely but the cafe needs closing down.

Have visited here lots of time with my children, who both absolutely love the play park.
Had a cup of tea and Kelly’s ice-cream from cafe.
Was busy due to being school holidays, but didn’t feel excessively so. Would recommend taking own chairs as plenty of seating but all in use.
Great view over the reservoir
