Private Day Trip to Whitby and the North York Moors from York

5 reviews
The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is one of England’s most enchanting destinations, but it can be hard to get around without your own transport. This private full-day tour from York includes a visit to the seaside town of Whitby, a steam train ride across the wild Yorkshire Moors, and stops in traditional market towns such as Pickering and Helmsley.

Grand kids favourite place to expend some energy, throw them selves around and enjoy 'mad time'. Plus for adults, the coffee is good.

Wanted to amuse 2 toddlers on a wet winter morning.came to twiggies.very busy managed to get the last table.lots of groups with friends chatting .both our toddlers loved the big blue slide.one had to be rescued when he got "lost"in the top corner. Then was fine.the time flew past quickly and both toddlers were tired and hungry at the end of their play.Decided not to eat there as all sandwich based light snacks. Not good for anyone wheat intolerant. The food that we saw coming out looked fine but not suitable for me. Will definatly return as the toddlers loved it.Good value for money and well layed out soft play area with good visibility when watching little ones at play

Hi, I am glad you liked your time there. I am the owner of Twiggy's and I am also Gluten Intolerant and as such all our menu is available as a gluten free option. We take great care to ensure that there is no needless allergens in our food including the add on bits such as pickles and sauces. We have Gluten free cakes and crisps, our spreads are all dairy and gluten free and we even have a separate area and equipment for those who have a severe gluten intolerance. On our menu it also says that gluten free bread is available. All our staff have been through allergen training and hold current certificates for such. I hope that next time you visit you will decide to eat. Thank you for your review. Andrew

I visited yesterday for the first time with my 2 year old and almost 4 year old. We had a fabulous few hours and would definitely recommend a visit here! It is a great size to be able to see children at all times and at the time of our visit (Monday morning) was extremely quiet. The food and drinks are lovely, basic food menu of sandwiches, toasties, mini pizzas, cakes, chocolate bars etc but all reasonably priced and what children (and Mummies!) like to eat. The whole place is kept so clean and tidy. The two ladies were amazing and were cleaning everything so thoroughly, plates were instantly cleared away from the tables when they were finished with and the floors, tables, high-chairs were all immaculate. Unfortunately, my little girl had an accident whilst we were there and split her lip. The two ladies were so kind, helpful and reassuring and helped to make my little one feel much happier.Thank you so much, I was really grateful. We will definitely be back soon and will recommend to others : )

Recently under new management - the changes although subtle have been lovely. It is much cleaner. The menu is slowly being expanded although more healthy snacks would be appreciated, the pizzas aren’t great and the high sugar enormous ice lollies are not really needed...it can get too busy and noisy, not helped by the often loud music. A bit of child control is sometimes needed especially when parents get engrossed in conversations and don’t keep an eye on their kids! The toilets often need a bit of attention with so many littlies traipsing back and forth. Thankfully the tatty baby toys have gone though but charging under 6 month olds to get in, when they aren’t even mobile and often sleep through the visit, seems unnecessary - shame the loyalty card has been scrapped too. However, it is a lovely soft play, in so far as soft plays go. You don’t come away feeling filthy and it is small enough to be able to keep an eye on the kids at all times yet big enough that the don’t get bored!

Hello Jane, Thank you for your review and I am glad that you like the changes. I would just like to comment on some of your points, We do have lots of other things on the menu that differ from pizzas and the pizzas we do have are from a leading brand. With regards to the ice pops, we removed the high sugar and high fat ice creams and went with these branded ice lollies that are only 25 calories per 90ml icepop. Other changes we have made are to remove all full sugar drinks and are in the process of changing the "Fruit Shoot" brand to one with half the sugar and greater value for money. We have also removed the use of nearly 6000 plastic bottles a year by the change to cans. All the cans are recycled for charity (Yorkshire Air Ambulance) I am sorry you thought the toilets were not to your standard, but can assure you they are checked regularly during the day, did you report your concerns during your visit? With regards to child supervision, it is totally the parents / carer responsibility to supervise their children during the visit and my staff are there to ensure safety. We have a full CCTV system that monitors the frame and should we see any behaviour that a parent has not addressed we will act, but a child is the responsibility of the parent / carer who brought the child. The reason we charge £1.50 for children 3 - 11 months is to cover the costs of nappy disposal etc. As you can imagine this is quite significant due to the volume of people we get through the centre. We are in the process of introducing a new loyalty card scheme, but as we are a totally new company we chose only to honour any full loyalty cards issued by the previous company in the first 2 months of our operation as we have no idea how many were out there and had to put an end date at some point. I hope you do come again and enjoy the ongoing changes that we are making. Thank you for taking the time to make a Tripadvisor comment and I hope I have answered some of your points. Regards Andrew

I have just visited for the first time since the new owners took over and the improvement is immense. Firstly the place was spotless, with staff clearing the tables and sweeping the floor all of the time. The food on offer in the cafe was good as well. Previously there was very little for younger children to do, but this has changed, there was lots to occupy my younger granddaughter who because of disability can’t access the larger apparatus. The owners also have plans to add a sensory tent, which will add even more interest. The larger apparatus has also had a revamp and there was plenty to keep a nine year old occupied. Yes, it is much smaller than the huge play frames available elsewhere, but it is very close to home and the low price makes it a very good option for a few hours play. I recommend it highly.
