About
Northamptonshire Gin & English Whisky are just two of the beautifully hand-crafted spirits from Wharf Distillery - Northamptonshire's only small batch, copper-pot distillery. We lovingly craft our range of spirits and liqueurs using locally sourced grain and fruit whenever possible, and only use natural flavours and a variety of very special wooden casks for maturation. We are England's smallest whisky distillery, and only the 8th English distillery to release a whisky since 1903! The distillery shop in Towcester stocks all Wharf products, with local beers, and other rare spirits coming soon. Tours and tastings are regularly available.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Alice and Laurence are amazing at what they do, their distillery is fantastic with a range of different flavours to choose from, I’d highly recommend!

We went to the Wharf distillery with some friends for their pizza night. The pizza van parks up in the courtyard of the distillery so it's nice and close to the seating area in the courtyard. There are also toilets just off the courtyard too which are handy with small children!
There are also a couple of benches over by the play park (wooden climbing tower with slide, fenced off with a gate for smaller ones to stay inside) we met some friends there so the children could play. The staff in the distillery are very warm and welcoming, they offered help in choosing some drinks to have with our dinner. We sampled some delicious gin and vodka and purchased some lovely cheese and crackers to take home for after.
It's a lovely shop and the people who work there are so friendly. We will defiantly be returning for a bottle of gin next time and the flavoured ones are so good!

The Wharf distillery is full of tasty treats. Cider (proper cider!), gin, whisky and all things alcoholic. It is also brilliant for bread, cheese and other local treats.

All the drinks are available for you to try before you buy.

Situated next door to the ARTea rooms,Wharf is a great example of local artisans making the most of local produce. A high end deli and a new venture into cheese adds to their cider and home produced gin. We caught them just as they opened and picked up a couple of treats. They are also a licenced premesis so you can take advantage of the local produce in comfort!

Took my family to visit this shop while visiting area and absolutely loved it! The owner Lawrence tries very hard to keep everything sold as local sourced add possible and his in house made spirits are most definitely worth a try. I can't wait for his whiskies to be released. 😃

It's been a very long time coming.. Yet it seems that there may just finally be a place to source local made products, not only are the new owners passionate about local and quality good, they also do it with fabulous smiles!

Having dedicated shop space for local producers means that that not only do the producers get the chance to reach a wider audience it also means that we can but fab stuff! Yay!!

Plus they also hold regular artisan markets, along with food nights plus a bar selling local drinks too!

I just hope that they continue on in the fashion they seem to have started.. it's a must visit and I think only better things can follow.. Looking forward to attending some of the already planned events at the Wharf Distillery & Shop for sure..

A BIG thanks to the brains behind this project/business

Recently visited for the artisan market and it was a pleasure to see the old 'Wakefield farm shop' being rejuvenated.
On the day there were many stalls with lots of interesting and tasty things to try and to eat and drink.
There is now plenty of seating with tables in the courtyard and on the surounding lawned areas, making it an ideal place for a quick snack or a leisurely drink.
The shop has a fine array of food and drinks and it has been designed and laid out to be attractive and welcoming.
Cider is going to be produced on site, having moved up from the wharf near Stony Stratford so that will be interesting to see.
I believe several food and drinks events are being planned over the coming summer months so it will be pleasing to see some interest coming back to the locality.
Several other small shops on the site. Plenty of parking and very easy to get to. Worth a visit.

Really interesting place to stop and try some different products. As it is newly located they are planning to set up some bistro tables and stools to have a drink in the shop as well as charcuterie/cheeses/antipasti style foods to eat in.

Runs alongside a 'specialist' food shop which stocks lots of treats and things you don't generally see around. It also has a smoked meat and fish counter - the smoked chicken is delicious!

I attending their first artisan market at christmas which had a great range of local food/drink/craft producers, some hot street food and a bar - looking forward to the next one as it can only build up from there!

Plenty of free parking, play area for children, picnic benches and other small independent shops around to browse in! Great place to stop and try something new.
