- Steve W1 contributionCould be so much better......Sadly we came away let down, staff and facilities fantastic but the museum content was poor. Interactive museums are all well and good but they also need to supply more original items on display. Where are all the old F1 cars for example. What happened to all the old cars from Donninton Park Museum? Also, fantastic cinema facilitity but, why show an animated lap of the circuit when technology now provides excellent 4k onboard footage. This is what F1 fans want to see. The owners of the Silversone museum should visit the Bovington Tank museum to understand how to display your items of interest to the public. Silverstone Museum could, and should, be so much better...........Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 March 2023
- Patrick SWitney, United Kingdom3 contributionsDont go, poor value, just not enough to it.Dissapointing! Staff were good but they had a difficult time trying to drum up much enthusiasm for a museum that is pretty low in content. There are some cars and bikes - not may though. And it is expensive - Im glad I went with just my son and not the whole family. The interactive elements are weak and certainly dont make up for what is really bereley a museum at all. The National Motor Museum up the road and the one at Beaulieu are both so much bigger and better and cheaper. Silverstone should be embarrased by this poor effort. Dont go!Visited April 2023Written 5 April 2023
- Kevin DNottingham, United Kingdom919 contributionsPleasantly surprisedVisited the Museum for the first time and was pleasantly surprised with all the hands things you could do. I paid an extra charge to go on the simulator which was hard but fun. Although not a F1 fan, I still found it interesting and ideal for a rainy day to visit 👍Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2023
- Richard M1 contributionUninspired, expensive and overratedGrossly overpriced and overrated, lots of boards to read but short on cars (there are a few) and other exhibits…was expecting better along the lines of the Nürburgring museum. Frankly the now closed racing car museum at Donington Park circuit would have put this to shame - should be so much more given the history and significance of Silverstone circuit. Save your money!Visited August 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 June 2023
- Gary LPeterborough, United Kingdom108 contributionsAverage and much smaller than expectedIt was average experience and much smaller than expected. Plenty of parking. Plenty of history about the track and location. They say allow three hours for your visit. Only took us an hour and half and that was going round one bit twice. Glad we went but there is not enough to do for a full day of that is what you are looking for. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. If you’re that way pop in but don’t make a special trip half way across the country.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 June 2023
- TrishYorkUK409 contributionsExpensive and over ratedVery disappointing and very expensive! There really wasn’t an awful lot to see and of course you get the add on expenses for the simulator etc - £15 totalling just over £37 per adult. Clothing prices in the shop extortionate - £80 for a polo shirt . The first room was very loud and had flashing lights, if you have tinnitus or epilepsy avoid at all costs! An hour was more than sufficient time here!Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 July 2023
- ChrisyBabyGrimsby, United Kingdom17 contributionsNot one for hardcore fansThis museum is not a patch on the old Donington Grand Prix collection. Anyone with more than passing interest in motor racing will find it hard to learn anything new - the museum seems to be aimed at children or those who’ve never been to a motor race. Very few cars to see and expensive for what’s on offer.Visited March 2023Written 16 July 2023
- Gromit2020Oxford, United Kingdom26 contributionsNot value for money and very poor cafeIt's a good job I found some discount tickets, of this would be a 1 star review. It's a history of silverstone, but not many people want to see almost half the museum dedicated to the war years and farming! Add to this the heritage trail which was not open, despite me checking on their website and delaying the visit a week until it would be open again after the Grand Prix. Checked the website on my return and it still says it was open today. Nothing worse than incorrect information. And then there's the cafe - sounds good, but by 1:30 they had run out of sandwiches, sausage rolls etc and even baked potatoes. If they can't get the demand right on a weekday then heaven help anyone who doesn't want to eat a large cooked meal during a weekend visit. Their response was poor too - with a chef in the kitchen that was too afraid to come out and see me, and not good enough to make a sandwich or put a potato in the oven to bake! If you love motorsport then try another museum where it's dedicated to cars!Visited July 2023Written 20 July 2023
- kimberh1986Grays Thurrock, United Kingdom1 contributionOverpriced and underwhelmingVisited here week with my partner and 2 sons. Not a great deal to see if you don’t want to read all the signs. Some of the interactive exhibits weren't working which was disappointing as the kids wanted to try these out. A few cars to see, but given this was Silverstone we were expecting much more. Some parts of the museum were tired and need updating. The graphics on the “Final Lap” exhibit looked like they were from PlayStation 1. Not great given the price paid to enter. Track walk was also shut so couldn’t even do that to make visit more worthwhile. All in all only took around 1.5 hours and that was including sitting to eat our lunch. Gift shop massively overpriced, as was the simulator experience which was £25 for 30 mins. Wouldn’t recommend unless you can find heavily discounted tickets and definitely not enough to do for more than a couple of hours.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 August 2023
- missminty20166 contributionsNot what I was expectingThe price of tickets was a bit steep for what was there. Upstairs was history about Silverstone, Scalectrix which they ask for donation again 4 laps round the track, not a lot for younger ones as so much reading, interactive bits were not that great. Downstairs had different sport vehicles but again if you are an F1 fan could of been so much better, Ive seen more in other car museums. Simulator again pricey and an addition so expensive for families. The last lap simulator was poor, considering today's technology look like it was from an old computer game. The shop was over priced and I could buy cheaper at the F1 store at Bluewater. The cafe was ok over priced for sandwiches and you need to get in early as sold out just after 1. The experience took us just over 90 minutes to go round and that was reading the information. Would I go back no, Would I pay full price no expensive for families and a bit disappointing.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2023

Plenty to see and do in this interactive and fun museum. Try and plan your visit to coincide with a track event as you can access the circuit via the café.
We stayed at the Hilton Hotel which is a short walk away and highly recommended.

The place was amazing at first it feels like a Disney experience when you stand on the grid. But when you get inside the museum it is so interesting with lots of information of how Silverstone started to some of the famous racing car and bikes. I enjoyed it and I am not a grand prix fan. The staff were so knowledgeable and very helpful. You can even go on the stands and watch the racing.

A fantastic museum for all ages if you are into F1 and motorsports.
My family and I went on a Girls Will Day which was, we thought, to help promote girls in F1. Although the museum is interesting and there's plenty to look at, do and see, I thought it was very disappointing that there was no promotion at all for girls in the sport, which is what we essentially went for. Surely if you want more females in the sport, whether drivers, or in my daughter's interest, journalism, this was not very well done and I feel that you have missed out on the opportunity to get more girls interested.

I thought it was expensive for what was there, I booked the night before and it cost £81 for 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids 16 & 13 years old). I think if it had been half that it would have been OK. My son also did the simulator which I must say was good, but again expensive at another £30 for what amounted to 20mins of driving.

I had a wonderful time visiting here for the day. Definitely a must if you’re in the area and a fam of Motorsports! It captures the British history of motorsport and the technological advancements throughout time. It has been great and definitely worth a visit.
Finally, I would like to thank Phil Ellis for the interest. He helped me a lot by giving advice about Silverstone Circuit and Silverstone Museum

This is the closest I’ve been to f1. I loved the museum , loved the history , it was great seeing older cars and motorcycles. The interaction was great and the learning aspect was also great . You got to see the track which was also a highlight for me .

An interesting mix of a traditional motor museum with an interactive flavour. Would best suit those interested in the history of motorsport at Silverstone. Lots of well presented cars and bikes on display. The hi tech start at the entrance sets the scene, with lots of graphics and car sounds. Also an interesting section on the former RAF Silverstone, where the perimeter track provided the initial base for the circuit. Well worth a visit .

My husband and son had a wonderful time visiting here for the day for a delayed Christmas present. I enjoyed a lot more than I was anticipating as motorsport is not really my chosen interest. However we spent a very enjoyable few hours looking at the exhibitions and learning about the history of the circuit and admiring the old racing cars and motorcycles. A wander out on the track was lovely too and brought back some happy memories for my husband who has raced here in his younger days. Really good value.

I already knew a little about the history of the Silverstone circuit. However, there was a lit I did not know. Excellent exhibits and well explained.
I would have suggested that the changes to the circuit layout over the years comes much sooner on your walk around.
The simulator was good (pay extra), although the seat was a bit tight for the fuller figure, ha ha.
The last part of the visit in the 4D cinema was something in nothing and hardly worth having as the space could be used for more exhibits.

Hi planning on visiting next week - would you recommend doing the simulator experience before the museum or after?
