A well presented and built memorial for the now destroyed original "tree" , representing the birthplace of the Labour Party, and no entrance fees. If driving through Barcaldine, it is worth a stop, if just to see the architecture. There is plenty of information on...More

A very modern memorial to the Tree of Knowledge, the birthplace of the Labor Party. Worth a read on the history of the shearer’s strike and the ongoing saga and strife between capital and labor. Worth a look!

An excellent memorial easily visited due to its Main Street location. A shame the original live tree is now gone but this does provide a worthwhile reminder.

It is different but very well done and is worth a visit to get the history of the tree of knowledge. It is free and there a a few pubs around the street to see as well.

Great place to understand how politicians were pulled in line by common people. Also the architecture is noteworthy. It will freak your kids out standing on the glass walkway.

To turn a dead tree into a modern monument is a feat in itself. The sidewalk has the story of the Shearers Revolt and the formation of the unions and labour party in Queensland interesting place to visit
