About
Bruce Belcher’s Daintree River Cruises offer a one-hour wild life cruise. We are keen bird watchers and have a good eye for crocodiles and tree snakes, with crocodiles being spotted on 98% of trips, particularly in cooler months. We don't provide Daintree bird watching tours however the native bird life in the Daintree is abundant. We operate Daintree tours from our home on the banks of the Daintree River in a secluded wildlife boutique facility. Come and relax in our garden room, listen to the surrounding wildlife and enjoy a complimentary Daintree Tea or coffee before or after your Daintree river tours experience. Peruse our tropical souvenir collection. Meander through our lush tropical garden to our private jetty to board our vessel for a personal guided tour with Bruce’s 32 years’ experience on the Daintree River.

A family business that has been operating for over 30 years. It has a feel of a business that cares for what it is they are showing tourists. Our guide (Griffith, owner’s son) was engaging, knowledgeable and very obviously caring of the environment he works in. Small boats (max 24 people), competitive pricing .... a good decision to use them. Plus a small cafe (with a free drink), small shop, toilets. Very well run and genuine company.
Ps Griffith thought he talked too much... absolutely not.... we all were totally engaged with every word.

Bruce Belcher's is a family run business and that shows in the great personal service offered by the receptionist Shazza (not a Sharon but a Shanna). The tour started promptly on time and within 50m heading downstream from the jetty there was our first crocodile basking on a log. We headed down the channel between mainland and Pig Island seeking a glimpse of the alpha male called Scarface. No initial sign of him so our guide took us for a circumnavigation of Pig island and after getting up close to 5 other smaller males and females, there he was the kind of croc everybody wants to see. Hauling himself out on to the bank was 5m and nearly 800kg of mean saltwater crocodile called Scarface. What a sight, and to be about 6 or 7m from this amazing animal was awesome. He must have been more than a metre across the middle. Recommend this tour 100%

We did this tour as a part of Tony’s Tropical Tours. It was a great croc cruise. Bruce was incredibly informative and answered all of my questions (and believe me I ask a lot). We were lucky to spot a few crocs and baby’s! It rained at one point but that didn’t dampen it we put the front cover down, stood in the middle and by the time we’d travelled 200m it was clear again. Would thoroughly recommend this as a croc cruise.

It is amazing to see Saltwater Crocodiles in their natural habitat. Bruce is a fantastic guide explaining so much about the Daintree fauna and flora. It is brilliant how well Bruce and others like him protect that unique environment while also respecting and admiring it's sheer beauty. Australia needs more like Bruce. Known to be the best guide in the area, just look for those Aussie flags.

Bruce is highly experienced and motivated person. We were so lucky to join that tour with him. Whatever you are unable to see, do not need to worry, he sees all the nature and wildlife around you like he had put them over there. Not only is bruce capable and spotting of crocodiles, but he will also find and explain other wild animals around you. Whats more, he is kind, helpful and will try his best for you to have a fun during your. I can not recommend highly enough to go to tour with Bruce if you wish to see the real wildlife in Daintree by having the best instructor.

Thanks to Bruce's tours for the chance to spot 4 different crocs, two tree snakes, a tree frog, and a few birds. Our guide was great at sharing his local knowledge, experiences, and information about the wildlife we saw - not just crocs. The river is beautiful and it was perfect to have the sausage roll and soda for a takeaway lunch after. The price ($30 for an adult) is very reasonable for a 1-hr tour and lunch!

Had a cruise with Bruce Belcher's late February and saw 2 crocs. One was a younger and smaller male out sunbathing. The other was a very large, 5 meter male who we were able to watch swimming along and then watch climb out of the water onto the bank. Very impressive and an incredible experience! The tour is meant to help you see crocs and delivers!

The operation was professionally run and easy to book but I'm not sure that the 98% sighting rate they quote is really accurate. As we were getting on the boat, the group before came off saying they didn't see anything which is a disappointing way to start. About half way through we passed another boat/company and the guide said they had seen one but our guide said that we couldn't go there with the boat we were on.
I understand that these are animals and seeing them isn't guaranteed but the company should provide information up front about best time of year and day to see a crocodile based on their expert knowledge. From the guide's talk, I also wondered how many crocodiles there really were in this area.

Dear Guest We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your experience with us, but we do thank you for the kind words regarding our operations. All the info regarding sightings is located on our website under the FAQ tab. The 98% guarantee is throughout the cooler months which this information is on our website, in our wildlife disclaimer which is in our terms and conditions on our website plus before you pay for your tour on our website, it is on our brochure, and it is on affiliate websites. Our staff are also well trained in informing self-drive guests without online bookings, enquiries, or general questions regarding sightings outside of the cooler months. If you booked through a third party, it is your responsibility to not only check the third parties terms and conditions/info but also the operators terms and conditions/info as you are bound by both when you book through an affiliate. If you would have searched our website, called, or emailed or dropped in you would not have written this review. We are the only operator that even goes to an extent to try and educate guests on seasonal changes because we do care, and we want everyone to be happy. As a long-term wildlife operator, we can somewhat predict crocodile sightings but even our predications are not guaranteed. Wildlife is simply wild. In response to the sighting that was heard over the radio - we operate and advertise as 1-hour cruises which are back-to-back and if the tour is nearing its end and there has been a sighting that is not close by, we just can not power up to the sighting because the boat is required to stay on schedule. Our guides are experienced and as advertised commentary is provided on the flora and fauna of the Daintree River (not all about crocs). We do understand how much guests want to see crocodiles that is why we issue FREE return tickets when there are no crocodile sightings, and these return tickets never expire! There is nothing we can do if people do not read what they are booking. If you have a solution, please enlighten us.

We had a fabulous time on this tour! Ray was friendly, and knowledgeable. These guys know where the crocs are so we saw a total of 8 crocs and about the same of snakes! They are also very accommodating so I highly recommend Bruce Belcher’s wildlife tours. Thanks for making our first wild croc sighting memorable guys!!

We had a few days in palm cove and wanted to do a few day trips including a trip on the Daintree river to see some birds and crocodiles. Easy booking process and a lovely garden at the base for the start of the trip. Really glad we booked with the smaller family owned business. We had a small comfortable boat with only 4 and included a 10-15 minute cruise with the biggest dominant male in the area, not rushed and not Interfering with his activities. We saw another boat of 20-30 people from a bus tour and we were well pleased not to be part of that … excellent value and time well spent
