This train and the history of the bygone era have been well represented by the trip we took back to Cairns from Kuranda. The beautiful sights are even more mesmerising from the train as it snakes it's way down to the plains.

Great to hear you enjoyed your trip with us on Kuranda Scenic Railway. It really is an impressive reminder of days gone by!

We opted for Gold Class which meant we had individual seating, all you can drink (tea, coffee, soft drink) and morning tea (muffin, biscuit etc) along with a souvenir (pen, postcard, pin). It was a lovely ride up the ranges to Kuranda and the seats...More

A great way to immerse in the area, the railway has quite a few scenic spots to take pictures and the story is very interesting. Book a window seat if you can as it's a lot better experience.. We went up on the sky rail...More

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We're delighted you enjoyed our vintage-refurbished train and the relaxing meander up the mountain :) We hope you took plenty of photos as a reminder of your Kuranda experience and, we wish you safe onward travels!

So much beauty to behold and fascinating history - a must do if you are afraid of heights, a great alternative to the sky rail.

Would highly recommend the train up the mountain and the Skyrail down. Kuranda is a great place with shops and smaller zoo like places to go. The train takes you over waterfalls through tunnels and gives you small talks on how it was built, Gold...More

Literally still on the train but had to write a review. My husband and I upgraded to gold class for an extra $49 and were spoilt with amazing views & commentary, drinks, nibbles and sorbet, all with fantastic service! Can’t recommend enough for couples or...More

We had a great time with the kids on a duly packed train. Our kids loved the journey through the tunnels, over bridges and up the hill. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our kids are 3 & 5. Highly recommend.

Trying to be as objective as I can with this review. We booked the train from Freshwater Station one way to Kuranda and then the SkyRail back to Cairns where the bus waits to return you to Freshwater Station. It cost the 3 of us...More

We'd be lying if we said we weren't a little disappointed that your journey didn't live up to expectation. The train, made up of carriages 100-years old, is in fact a vintage experience - the entertainment is in large part made up of travelling in...More

Our family took the combo package to Kuranda this weekend; up on the scenic railway, a few hours in Kuranda, and Skyrail back down. On the whole, a positive experience, but the train was the weakest part. To their credit, it was as described: vintage...More

Not sure. I know there is a free bus service from Smithfield to central station and I recall it stops at Freshwater as well. It is free with your train ticket
