Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went right of the sign near the carpark to the picnic swimming area first. Wasn't overly impressed with it. So continued on to do the full circuit around to the falls. If you're strapped for time and only have time to do 1, don't bother going to the swimming hole.
The walking track is very thin & surrounded by long grass & boulders so be on the look out for snakes.
The falls are nice but only get a side view of them.

The drive in is about 12 minutes of dirt corrugated road off the main road. It can get scary going up the mountain for those afraid of heights as the road gets very thin (one lane in parts) and there is not guard rails.

The rock pools at the bottom are nice. Mini falls, public toilets and camping available.

Beautiful peaceful campout nestled by the bubbling creek and falls that put you to sleep easily. Cool refreshing pools of natural clean water. Had a monitor visit our site and took care of watching for snakes.

We camped at upper Davies creek. We were unsure if we could make it in our 2wd rental camper but we did!! Road is gravel but absolutely fine all the way to the camp site, small access road to actual campsite had some rocks and tree roots but were easily avoidable. Huge camp spot all to ourself with a flowing stream, very good campsite!

Wonderful location for either a day trip or camping overnight especially when it is hot in the valley. Lots of hiking, picnicking and cool streams to enjoy.

Well worth the six kilometre drive from the highway . Small rock pools abound with opportunity to cool down in them. Children would enjoy wondering over the rocks and having a dip in the shallow pools. Be carful of the smooth rocks under water as they are quite slippery. The waterfall at the top is a short walk and another great spot to cool down.

..why not turn left at the sign about a few minutes before Mareeba (53 km from Kuranda) and head down Davies Creek Road to the Davies Creek National Park for a walk and a swim?

There are plenty of BBQ areas and there is a short 1.1km circuit walk which goes by a couple of ok wading pools (the best ones require a little effort to get to and aren’t right next to the track, you need to be a little adventurous to get to them – I had to do a little rock jumping). The walk also passes a lookout with a decent view of Davies Creek Falls, which cascades over granite boulders.

Getting there is via dirt road (about 6km to the camping area), which is totally doable in non-4WD vehicles, however the road is corrugated so buckle in for a bumpy ride (and get ready for dust!).

If you really like your walking you can do Kahlpahlim Rock circuit, which is strenuous and 12.3km long (allow 6 hours return).

This is a great place to stop by at. There is also Emerald Creek Falls a few kilometres closer to Kuranda (exit on the same side of the Kennedy Highway) which is similar to Davies Creek so take your pick or do both!

About 14 Km outside Mareeba, the Davies Creek National Park is a little gem. From the main road there is a 7 Km drive over a mostly gravel road to get to the first creek access spot. The drive is easy by standard car - just a little corrugate in spots.

It is worth stopping at each of the turn-outs. The first is a charming area where the creek tumbles over a granite bed. A few yards further down, you can walk under a forrest canopy, along the sandy creek bed through clear water that is generally only a foot or so deep. At the main lookout a little further along the road, there are short, easy walks to look-out points which give wonderful views of the main waterfall and down the Davies Creek valley. You can walk right down to the waterfall edge and to the pool below if you are more agile and energetic. There is also a walk along the side of the creek (above the waterfall) leading to a small swimming hole.

The area is just a real pleasure to visit. We would rate it a must if you are in the area and enjoy great scenery. We only spent a little over an hour in the park, but you could easily spend longer. Great place for a picnic.

Went to Davies Creek for the short Falls Circuit (about 1 km). Beautiful countryside and great viewing points. The road is quite corrugated but otherwise OK.
