We'll talk about the decor first: It looks a bit in need for maintenance and maybe the displays themselves could benefit from some cleaning and polishing. But apart from that, we were given tea and a couple of yummy biscuits before we took the boat...More

If you like fruit wines then try the mango wine (three levels of sweetness available) or some of the fruit liqueurs. Personally, I thought the liqueurs were much better than the wines, but you are invited to sample all the options and make up your...More

As a Mareeba local, I bought family that were visiting from down south. Came to do the lagoon walk and have lunch, visitor centre and walk were lovely, staff were friendly and attentive without being too "in your face", and meals were fresh, tasty, and...More

Please see my review of Jabiru Safari lodge and stay the night to get a real feel for this magical place.Highly recommended but don't just flash through in the middle of the day expecting to birdwatch.

The drive in was good at around 10.30 with wallabies still feeding and a group of Blue-winged Kookaburra. Not much bird life of note on the lake but the 'warden' was very helpful with sites and what was around on the lake.

If you're in the Granite Gorge area, you must stop at Mareeba Wetlands. We only had time to do the 3km walk around the main lake but boy it was spectacular. Saw a couple of snakes and plenty of birds (typical for wetlands). If you...More
