- guennie3Cambridge, United Kingdom450 contributionsFavourite wine tasting in McLaren ValeTotally recommend visiting this cellar door. It is more relaxed than others in the region and very very friendly. It was also more reasonably priced than most at $15 per person for 5 wines. You could choose either 5 white, 5 red or a mixture. The server was extremely friendly and knowledgable and great fun. We sat in a conservatory looking out on the beautiful gardens whilst enjoying the amazing wines.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 October 2023

- stevenadelec22 contributionsA Fox Creek experience in Winter with Summer 🍷♥️On a grey cold day we went to Fox Creek for some wine tasting while staying in McLaren Vale for 4. Nights! We ventured in and we were greeted by a ray of sunshine called Summer whom then continued to settle us in with heater and blanket and she then proceeded to take us through a glorious wine tasting experience. Fox Wines your wines speak for themselves, they are magnificent, however having an employee such as Summer made out whole experience totally memorable! The live music completed the whole atmosphere! Thankyou Adele and Steve from Hillbank ♥️🍷Thank you so much for your heartwarming review, Adele and Steve! We're thrilled to hear that Summer made your visit memorable and cozy, especially on a grey, cold day. We're glad you enjoyed the wine tasting experience, our wines, and the live music. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to Summer. We hope to see you again soon for another wonderful visit! - RosMelbourne, Australia1 contributionA highlight of our tripWe had a wonderful time at Fox Creek Wines. 6 of us did a tasting hosted by Clare. We loved all the wines and we loved Clare! We had such a good time that we returned for the Silver Fox Friday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Everything about this place is good — the wines, the lovely staff, the beautiful setting. We highly recommend Fox Creek Wines.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2024

We visited Fox Creek as part of our full day winery tour. It was the stand out winery on the day for many reasons. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and had a fabulous sense of humour. The location is stunning - small heritage cottage style with beautiful scenery outside and room for kids to explore and play. The wine was top shelf and by far the best that we tasted on the day. So good that I signed up as a circle member and will be receiving at least two boxes a year! We also loved that we were able to have locally made cheese and crackers with our wine tasting for a small fee (which was inclusive of our tour price). Thank you, Fox Creek. We hope to be back very soon!

Over the past 8 years, upon travelling to Adelaide, we've called into Fox Creek Wines in McClaren Vale 3 times. It is a very pointed visit as we love their wines, with specific favourites that can't be bought at shops. The staff have been very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The grounds are lovely in the warm weather and the interior is comfortable during any weather. Once we had a delicious charcuterie platter, but I don't know it's available anymore. We just joined the wine circle which provides a very satisfactory delivery of 2 x half dozen wines (minimum) per year.

We visited on the Sunday of the Anzac weekend with our grandkids who had a ball. Was so good we came back with friends the next day! The ambiance was lovely, such a great spot for families and the food was excellent. Especially want to mention the above and beyond service whereby we were offered a shade umbrella to be brought to our sunny corner along with bottled water - such great personal service. We will definitely be back for special events… and not so special days … to soak up the fabulous atmosphere.

All of there wines, including the sparkling range are top class, but the reds should not be missed! Claires'attention to needs and payment are really wonderful. Her knowledge and ability to listen and find a solution is great to experience. It is so close to Adelaide, you would be mad not to visit if in S.A.

You can understand why Fox Creek is rated number 1! The cellar door is a bit hidden but once you enter it’s unique and has a really cool vibe. It’s the service that really wins you over though. We got to chose where to sit, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. They let us try what wines we liked but also their favourite wines too! Every wine was superb. We had Tina as our host, she was so much fun and knowledgeable and she also gave us recommendations for other spots in Mclaren vale. Will definitely be back soon!

Several excellent flights to showcase their wide range of wines, and all presented in the friendliest, most hospitable way. Of course the shiraz wines are all that you expect from the region, but there are some enticing other varietals and blends on offer. Tina even whipped up an excellent cheese platter to complement the wines. The icing on the cake is that there are two chargers for electric vehicles in the car park!

Had an amazing wine tasting experience at this very pretty winery. The staff were great, Bec guided us through some of their fantastic wines giving us stories and explanations of each wine.
The setting is spectacular and I definitely recommend this cellar door for a relaxed afternoon of wine, beer, food and fun.
We will be back for sure sure.

I took my friends here for a taste of what our beautiful wine region has to offer and they have not stopped talking about how impressed they were.
David’s service and knowledge about the beautiful wines we tasted really added to our experience. I have to say it was very impressive and we left not only feeling like we had tasted lovely wines but that we had also had an education.
It was such a beautiful and welcoming environment and to sit in the colourful garden while tasting was a lovely experience.

Stumbled across this lovely little family owned winery and had the very best service. Thank you Cassie and the very attentive bar man. (You went looking for a bottle of mulberry gin for me)
We had a cheese platter - excellent size - 4 x cheeses, biscuits, fruit, nuts, olives, cold cuts and chutney - so beautifully presented and tasty.
Mulberry gin was quite lovely. We’ll keep looking out for a bottle to bring home.

I've wanted to visit here for a while, but somehow still wish I wanted to visit as I was completely underwhelmed by the 58 minutes I spent here. I decided to visit at the last moment as we fancied sitting in the sun having a lovely platter with a nice glass of wine, but when I arrived I did not expect to see a food truck and a bar, this may be the attraction that many go for, but for me it wasn't what I expected.
The main reason for going was the platters and I have to say I've had some lovely platters in SA, and also back in my home country in the UK where some vineyards are now popping up, but to me this was by far the worst platter I've ever had, and I'd go so far as to struggle to call it a platter. Yes, it was served on a wooden board, but there were 5 small pieces of cheese, 3 small thine slices of salami, 1 thin slice of chorizo and some round tubular shaped salami, the tiniest amount of pickle served in a polystyrene container, 5 olives and about 30 water biscuits.. Honestly, if you go to Coles, spend $10, you could make a far better platter than this. And I for one, don't often like to leave negative reviews, but I feel this is deserved as this was very very poor from a vineyard that claims their platters are created by a chef!
Honestly, wish now I'd taken a photo of the 'platter' so that it could be compared to a lovely platter (see photo), nicely plated and with a variety of different delights and made with care, not just stuck on a board amongst polystyrene.

I'm looking for a tour from Adelaide which takes in Fox Creek, any suggestions please. Valerie
Written 3 March 2015
A thousand apologies Valerie, I have only just seen your question. Please find above the link to the various tour companies that operate in McLaren Vale. There are three that visit Fox Creek as part of their tours and these are Tours 'R' Us, Wine Lover's Tour and Adelaide's Top Food & Wine Tours. The others will visit us if you request but I don't think all necessarily do pick ups from Adelaide. Hope this helps - sorry again for the delay! All their contact details are on the McLaren Vale info website - unfortunately I cannot post the link here but if you wish to email me directly.
Kind regards, Kristin (Fox Creek Wines)
