We visited this quirky vineyard as part of a tour to the McLaren Vale area, we loved its quirkiness and the fabulous rotunda. We were looked after by Carolyn - a generous host who certainly 'knew her stuff'. We really enjoyed the wine tasting and the oil and Dukkar. Would loved to have met Hugh - another time. Great wines.

Set atop an old wine tank, this cellar door has stunning views of the surrounding vineyards, set only a couple of minutes' walk off the Shiraz Trail. A standard tasting allows you to sample four different wines (we could have easily tasted a few more), with knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The views from Hugh Hamilton are simply stunning and some of the best in McLaren Vale. However, the service could definitely be improved on. We visited during a busy period but after standing around for 10-15 minutes, not one staff had acknowledged us, so we left without doing any tasting. A couple standing next to us also did the same... After being black sheep members for a couple of years now and having bought wines regularly for a couple before that, we always make a beeline for Hugh Hamilton wines when in the Mclaren vale. This time I brought along my parents visiting from the UK and expected the usual tasting of the wines we had just received as part... More

This was by the far the best winery we visited on our day trip to the McLaren Vale area. The staff were friendly and special thanks to the lady who sat with us and explained the different Black Blood wines to us along with the different types of soil that affect their produce. The tasting room has wonderful views, amazing... More

I drive by this place so often, but today I finally drop in. Why it took so long, I don't know. It was such a lovely experience, Sabine our host was totally in control, excellent knowledge of the wines, great sales person too, I signed up for the BSC. Great wine, great venue and great people behind another great brand,... More

First time and certainly won't be the last. Wow Such great wine and a rotunda view To top it off fabulous service- The winery has such a proud heritage too that the staff seem to not only respect but are keen to show - and rightly so If only at McLaren Vale for a short visit and limited in wineries... Stunning location, definitely the 'Black Sheep' of the family doing very well indeed. Nice wines and great service. But in the end the views speak for themselves.

Have to say that the cellar door is perfectly located among the vines with stunning views. We were a small group of seven who had prebooked a tasting, and initially everything went well. Our host, Nathaniel was very personable and I enjoyed the wines. However, as there were only two staff working, He had to go off and attend to... More

We loved this cellar door and it definitely appealed to our "Black Sheep" side. It's located in lovely spot with great views from cellar door. Our hostess, Carolyn was professional and so friendly and welcoming. Definitely my favourite cellar door in the Mclaren Vale. Highly recommended.
