Operated by the City of Canal Fulton and the Canal Fulton Heritage Society, the St. Helena III Canal Boat rides offer the public the chance to ride a replica cargo canal boat pulled by two work horses one mile south and back on the original Ohio & Erie Canal. The boat travels past the renovated McLaughlin Dry Dock and Lock 4. During the one hr ride, the crew steer with a rudder and poles while a historian on board provides facts and stories of life during Ohio’s canal era.

Relaxing and educational I would recommend this for all history buffs. The hour long tour doesn't go very far but is very relaxing. The guide tells of the development of the Ohio -Erie canal and it's effect on the local area and the state.

We thoroughly enjoyed the canal boat ride. It was pulled by two horses, so we got the feel of how things used to be. The guide narrated thoughout the ride to tell us of the history of the town and the canal.

We really enjoyed doing this as a family. It was fun to watch the horses guide the canal boat. It was also pretty along the canal. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the Canton area!

You purchase tickets at the visitor center. They do not offer them online. They also generally don't take reservations.
