Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While visiting the World's Largest Gavel, I couldn't help wondering if this has been certified as the world's largest. Like, is there a larger one in Dubai or Australia? Is there some unadvertised gavel building contest? In any case, this is indeed a big ass gavel. It's silver and it rests in a pool. Highly recommended.

Located a short walk from the State Capitol building and near the Court buildings is this sculpture of a silver gavel lying in a large pool. It looks like a bit of fun.

This is for real. It is so cool set in water. So much symbolism between the buildings. In the evening you can park right in front.

Granddaughter always saying she is going to be a lawyer so this was a must. Yes it was just a sculpture- but it was over a fountain and really did look nice.

My son graduated from Law school that day and it was a must picture opportunity! Plus it’s great to be down on the river front.

So you'll find this gavel on the left side of the Supreme Court building, while facing the front head-on. At the corner of State St and Front St. You can see it from the street, and I also included a picture of the intersection it's near. Parking is metered along the street, as I recall.

While searching for the world's biggest gavel you might also find one in Illinois but it is only 5' by 16' I believe. The one here in Columbus is 30' by 13'.

You might also see some reviews saying it was closed off to construction, but when I went yesterday, there were no restrictions.

It's a beautiful area to take a walk around downtown.
There is a nice kind of Riverwalk in the back too.

The fact that it is described as "The World's Largest Gavel" only assures that you have to see it to believe it. Located at 65 South Front Street, in the south reflecting pool at the Ohio Judicial Center, home to the Supreme Court of Ohio, in the downtown Civic Center in Columbus, Ohio, this 2008 sculpture by Andrew F. Scott, depicting a gavel, a mallet used by judges to maintain order in a courtroom and to punctuate rulings, depicting the authority that the judiciary has over decision-making. The stainless steel sculpture, which is 12 feet by 15 feet by 30 feet, is one of about 170 works of art at the Ohio Judicial Center and is the largest and most expensive of all, with a cost of $200,000. Scott is a Ohio State University graduate and professor of foundation studies at the Savannah College of Art & Design.

We were on a road trip and stopped here and at the Arnold Schwarzenegger statue to break up the time. There was some street parking available in front of the gavel when we visited. We snapped a few photos and enjoyed the water sounds for a few. Not a must see, but why not if you're close by?? It's free!

Why not go and check this out? It’s worth it for the 5 seconds you’ll want to be there and then continue on to the river. We took scooters there and that was convenient.

This is one of the oddities that I just had to stop for a visit since I was in town. There isn't much to it aside from the gavel statue, but it is neat. There is parking metered nearby.
