Most of the tourists visit Jalori Pass to trek upto Serolsar Lake, which is great. Serolsar Lake is 5 KMs from Jalori Pass and involves an easy to moderate trek which will take you anything between 2-3 hours depending on your stamina. The motorable road to Jalori pass is very narrow and steep, driving here requires skills, to manoeuvre thru narrow winding roads coupled with steep ascends and descends. When we visited during April 2nd week, there was snow near the summit. And as we went up towards the Serolsar lake, the presence of snow increased. There is a "Mid Way" point on the track where you can see beautiful snow clad mountain ranges, do some photography there, and take a tea/snack break if you like, before resuming your trek. At the lake, we found snow in abundance, much more than we had thought of. It was an experience beyond words,
On the way back, it was afternoon and the snow along the trek had begun to melt, resulting in slippery mud all along the track. One need to move extra cautiously to not to slip and fall. The 5 KM up and 5 KM down track to and from Serolsar lake might be tiring, but the experience at the lake, especially if it is snow-clad, is many more times rewarding.

If you love to trek, there are multiple options available in Jalori pass. You will be mostly confused and start walking towards the lake as we did and most of the tourists will be doing.
There are three spots in Jalori pass, you can't do more than more as 2 are 5 plus hours and one steep uphill.
One is towards the lake, the second one is towards the fort (both 5 plus hours) , the third one is known as 360 degree view. 360 view is steep uphill, will take approx 45 minutes to go up and have a mesmerizing view. Mountains , green meadows and all shades of green.

We visited Jalori Pass in Jibhi in the month of March 2022.In case you are not doing regular hiking this place is not for you .5 km one way takes 3 hours to the selorlsar lake and the path is steep with ups and downs. So in case you have any chronic disease i wont recommend this place to you.View is good but only when snow is there .

This is an easy hike and suitable for all age groups. Roughly it takes 2 hrs one side and the path is easy to follow. It's broad and gets steep only at the end. Plenty of shops on route to grab food and refreshments. Eat at the lake as the variety is more and better to not eat during hiking.

I finally made it to Jalori Pass. the last time I tried was unable to reach because of excess snow on the road. I was staying at Tandi and I drove to Jalori Pass. The journey of about 20 kms took about an hour.
Jalori Pass is a nice place connecting the Kullu valley with the Shimla Valley. The altitude is about 11000 feet. There are a couple of sights to go from Jalori. But the two most popular ones are a visit to Serolsar Lake (5 kms trek) and the 360 degrees point. I could only do the 360 degree point. The climb upto the point is a mildly steep. Since I went in late March, there was a lot of snow and that made the journey to the top a little tedious, But the views are amazing. Also, near the top I tried a zip line experience. It was exhilarating. On our way back to Tandi, we stopped at Jibhi falls, which is also worth a visit.

What is a tough drive for the tourists is a nice walk for nature lovers....the view from Jalori Pass is fantastic. We always feel like arriving in a different world, once the pass is crossed over the Kullu side.
There are not too tough hikes to Rahupur fort as well as Serolsar lake from the pass.
The temple at the pass itself is very charming.

We were visiting Tirthan valley in the first week of March, 2019. We had heard a lot about Jalori Pass. Since we were staying in the Tirthan Valley, it was our best chance to attempt to drive to Jalori Pass.
Jalori Pass is one of the the most dangerous roads to drive in the best of times. The road is very narrow and does witness quite a bit of traffic including trucks, trailers, jeeps and private vehicles.
The Pass is at an altitude of 10,800 feet. In winters the Pass is closed because of heavy snow. And this year, the winters had been prolonged, and it was still snowing in the upper reaches of the valley even in the first week March.
We wanted to try and reach as far as possible to the Pass, and then try and walk on the road. We left from our place - Sunshine home stay in the Hamni Village, Gushaini Tehsil of Kullu district in the Tirthan Valley at around 1030 hours in Toyota Innova.
We were quite excited to make this trip. We crossed the small town of Banjar - a tehsil of Kullu district. We marvelled at the patience and civility of the local people in navigating their way through the narrow Main Street of the town ( not more than 10 feet wide). The road allowed only one big vehicle to cross it a time, and if another one came from the opposite direction, then one of them would have to reverse. But it was always settled amicably.
After Banjar, we crossed another town which is quite popular with tourists by the name of Jibhi. We could see snow on both sides of the road as well as in tree tops.
As we continued driving towards Shoja, the snow built up. It became difficult to drive up the road, but our driver continued to move up on the steep ascent.
However nearing Shoja, the road became very slippery because of hard ice on the road. The Tyres started to slip, and even the engine couldn’t power the vehicle ahead.
As we had our old parents with us, we decided to abandon the drive and not risk going further. We were quite disappointed, but had made a sincere attempt to go as far our vehicle allowed.
Sometimes it is better to retreat and wait for your next opportunity to display your courage for adventure. Giving up doesn’t always means you are weak, sometimes it means you are strong and smart enough to let go.
Our recommendation would be to take a 4 wheel drive for the Jalori Pass. Seasoned travellers on the road also advise having the vehicle on full load as it makes it easier to press on the ice. A lighter vehicle with few passengers would tend to slip more.
Waiting for our chance to make the next trip to Jalori Pass.

This is a beautiful place in off season. Hardly any tourists and has a beautiful view. Start early so that you can spend the day trekking to the lake from Jalori and then be back before nightfall. The road is in shambles, so be prepared for a rough ride.

Went to Jalori and Serolsar lake with friends and family .Though have been to Jalori twice before and have always loved the place with its forest, meadows , the amazing view , the floating clouds but this time the plan was to do the Serolsar lake trek as well. The drive to Jalori is amazing after Banjar but mind you the road is not metaled and a steep climb . The trek to Seolsar lake is amazing and easy. It is 5 km easy walk one side not much of climb. The view on the way , the untouched forest , the mist flowing through is so refreshing. Just loved the trek, the historical importance of the lake . A must visit . Would love to do camping in the area next time around.

Traveled from Sarahan to Manali through this pass. Great scenic view. Not too cold. But bents and width of the road may stop your heartbeat. The surface quality of the road is also not too good. you will have high winds once there is an elevation in the altitude.
I'll suggest you to travel through this pass if there is a chance. It goes through the mountain forests and have some

I am planning to visit Jalori pass in last week of Dec - 23rd along with my family including children. So is it feasible to reach Jalori pass during that time?
Written 22 November 2022
Jalori is high altitude and sees a lot of snow in the winter. Even though the information on road condition may be available for the general area, it is highly recommended that you enquire specifically for Jalori pass a day prior to your travel. Getting stuck in snow with family may be challenging, unless you like to rough it out. Do carry anti-skid chains/ropes as a precaution. All the best.

Will it be possible to go from Jibhi to Narkanda via Jalori pass around 15th dec? We are planning to stay in manali, then jibhi, narkanda and last kasuali. If the pass is closed then we may have to rethink the middle part. Also, when the pass is closed, is it enforced or do some cars take the risk?
