Lousia point is the best place to see majestic western ghat. Steep hills create an unique view. One can go on the top of an isolated rock to see below l, the scene is breath taking. But Louisa is the farthest place in the trail, around 4.5 km from market. The roads are not great, but if one has taken horse than it is ok. There is a small shops present near the point which serves water / tea / Maggie etc. One need to visit and spend sometime there to enjoy the beauty.

The view from this point is worth the long trek (about 2 hours from toll booth, on a rainy day). However, the journey there is not that great. Here’s what I wish people could tell me before I made my way there:
1. If going by car, try not park in their parking lot, rather park a few hundred meters away from the entrance so you can leave easily. A fight broke out today at the parking because some cars have been queuing to leave the parking lot for 1.5 hours and the driver just lost it. It is very chaotic.
2. The trek is very easy, don’t bother with hiking boots unless you plan to climb up some of the look-outs. For most of the walk, a pair of sandals is perfect, especially in the rain.
Speaking of rain, bring a rain coat, umbrellas are useless in this rain, so is gum boots...
3. There’s a lot of horses in Matheran for tourist who want to ride them to the lookout points. Horse dung litter the roads everywhere and they stink. If you get grossed out by these things, don’t go.
4. Monkeys are everywhere as well, if you have food in your hand, they actually attack you for it.
5. Bring something to sit on, so you can enjoy the view for longer. The area is mostly dirt.
6.it gets cold at the view points because of the mountain drafts, umbrellas gets blown away, so get a wind breaker

Throwback to this trip to Matheran.
It is a hill station near Mumbai.
It’s known for its mild climate and well-preserved colonial architecture.
Vehicles are banned over here.
.
The different points have different views across the mountains and waterfalls.
This is the best place to visit during monsoon. .
.The Only way to reach to Matheran is this Toy Train as it's a polution free destination. .
Visitors use local trains from mumbai local stations to Neral.
From Neral they use Toy train to reach Matheran.

Louisa Point is most attractive tourist place in Matheran. When we reached there, it was totally covered by fog, hence not able to see the beautiful view of western ghats. Though enjoyed the walking from market to Louisa Point, via Echo point.

There are many points to visit in Matheran around 36 points.
But most of them are not too good, but this one point is worth visiting for atleast once.
Very nice view from here and very big aerial view.

I am planing to go Matheran in the Sat evening. IF I reach Neral around 4 pm. How I will go to Matheran ?Please suggest
Written 19 June 2019
Hi...you can get share taxi from the Neral station.
They sometimes do bargaining.
You can take the toy train from the station itself.
Get the tickets from the station.
you will enjoy it in this rainy season.
and lastly you can trek the mountain and will take 2 hrs.

Can someone please inform me as to how far the train will take us around Matheran. Are there specific points we can hop on and off the toy train ?
Written 8 May 2019
There are 3 trains from neral to mathran and aman lodge to mathran. Even though the speed of the train is slow no one is allowed to hop on and off the train.
This train is just a mode to get you to matheran it doesn't go to any of the sightseeing points.

I am hoping to visit Louisa Point in November, I’d appreciate it if someone can give me an idea as to how far do I need to walk to reach Louisa Point ?
Written 8 May 2019
Hi...All the points in the Matheran will depends upon where you are staying.
Some hotels are very near to some points are others are very far.
After finalizing the hotel just ask the manager for the same.
But while walking if you get tired then you can take the horse for further distance.
Do bargaining for the same.

Hi...I am not sure ..but you need to check with the concerned taxi driver.
There are many trekkers who usually trek in the night.
The taxi will drop you at main gate for entry fee and from there you need to walk at least for 30-45 min for the hotel stay .
