Wildlife roaming around the streets, abandoned buildings & structures, coal mining equipment, lack of mobile reception as well as a possibility of being within a 100m of wild polar bears (Don't worry, its very safe). Pyramiden is a treat for those who wish to experience...More

This "attraction" is very interesting if you come prepared. If you know nothing about the place, then it is a longish daytrip to a weird abandoned city. If you read about the place ahead of time and are interested in Russian history or abandoned architecture...More

An incredible place - if you like your cold war / Soviet kitsch ! Each of the daytrip boats gets a two hour slot - which sounds like a reasonable amount of time, but it's a big site. You only get about 10 minutes in...More

I was lucky enough to visit this place because I was on one of the very few cruise ships to visit Pyramiden. This is a very interesting place to visit but with just 14 mining company employees in the summer, there are just insufficient resources...More

This ghost town of the fall of Russia isn't at the northernmost end of the wold but you can see it from there. Aside from its stark nature, one of the most compelling things that I took from my visit was the downfall of an...More

Travelled there with my daughter on a 4 hour trip by boat from Longyearbyen. There is no other practical way to get to Pyramiden. My fellow contributors have described the place with considerable literary skill - I won't say it all again while I do...More

This was a very strange , but interesting place to visit, Armed guards patrolled around the perimeter of the town to ward off any Polar Bears, which are present in the area, The buildings had a desolate feel about them, where everything has been left as...More
