"You do realise this is a working ship," the travel agent warned me, and I nodded. I was expecting to have to sing sea shanties, sleep in a hammock and take pot luck at the galley, but what greeted me on the Spitsbergen could not have been further from what I imagined. The cabin had a queen size bed that... More

Hurtigruten Tours was the most professional tour outfit we experienced during our week in Svalbard. We had a thorough briefing on clothing, the itinerary (on PowerPoint no less, with descriptions of stops we would be making), and the operation of the snowmobile, which would assure any worrywart embarking on their first snowmobile ride. Our guide was patient and provided illuminating... More

I enjoyed this experience very much. It was my first attempt at driving a snowmobile, but literally anyone (with a driving licence) could do it. The scenery throughout the trip was absolutely beautiful and we saw several reindeer who did not seem at all bothered by us driving past them. The leaders (Robert and Sara) were very good and patient.... More

With expectations over the moon I woke up and realised the weather was not on my side.. Completely white. Very windy and snowy. I was a bit dissapointed at this point already. Got picked up in a car and was told that it was only me and one other guest on the trip and that we would try to reach... More

I am from India and was fortunate enough to be part of this activity along with a couple of my friends. We were picked up from Radisson Blu Polar hotel. It started at sharp 2.00 PM and was for around 2-3 hours. It will always remain an unforgettable experience etched in our memories, more so because we had Martha Dahl as... More

We were told this was a must - to ride a snowmobile to the east coast. This would be a good way to possibly see a polar bear. We didn't see a polar bear but we did see bear foot prints. The glaciers were amazing and certainly spectacular. Mads our tour guide was awesome I hope he is paid well... More

If you booked to see the Northern Lights via the Hurtigruten Cruise and your ship is the Nordlys...avoid Cabin 342. It's directly under the children's play area. It's very noisy and the Hurtigruten refuse to allow you to move cabins. Moreover, taking pictures of the Northern Lights from a ship is futile. The ship is moving after all, it's not... More

I booked the Snowcat Panorama tour but due to technical problems it was cancelled. A member of Hurtigruten staff came to offer a refund but I chose to do the tour the day after. It was great, very cold but sunny, it gave us the chance to see around the town, offering amazing views. The guide was knowledgeable and very... More

I booked two tours with them: the ice caving experience and the snowmobile tour towards Elveneset. The ice cave was sooo fascinating, we went up the Longyearbreen by a snow cat, super cool! Inside the cave, what an unbelievable view! We went deep inside under the glacier and had a breathtaking emotion listening to the arctic silence down there! I... More

We booked the northern light trip with beltwagon last week. As we know, chances are little as longyearbyen is too high, but space was very limited in the beltwagon and we drove to mine number 7 and back, with 2 stops on our way. Overpriced and regretted to have booked this trip. Guide was nevertheless funny and enthusiastic.
