My experience with this company was catastrophic. The guide assumed I was intoxicated, and therefor refused me to join the tour, even though I had paid. They wouldn't even return my money, claiming I had violated some terms I wasn't made aware of by consuming alcohol. Which I hadn't. Even after taking a test at the police station just an hour later - which was negative - they still refused to refund my money. Utterly cold and unprofessional, and a sure sign that this company do not care for their clients.

We booked a midnight sun kayak and this activity exceeded our expectations! Our guide Sabrina picked us up from our hotel on time and greeted us with a bright smile. We were only 7 which made the whole experience much more personalised. We had never done kayaking before which wasn’t a problem. Sabrina took us through the instructions and helped us to get into the dry suits (conveniently included in the booking). We then paddled across the fjord, stopped on the other side where we had a walk and a lovely snack. Sabrina shared stories about Longyearbyen - she was friendly, professional and knowledgeable which made all the difference! Kayaking on a fjord in the midnight sun is truly an incredible experience. I highly recommend Spitzbergen Outdoor Activities for this!

I was in Svalbard for four nights and needed to pack a lot in. There is a well organised booking system via the Visit Svalbard web site and I planned my trip from the UK booking two things from Svalbard Outdoor Activities, a three hour walk up a local mountain in the evening of my first day and a bird watching trip on the last. Both were completely wonderful with very professional and pleasant guides. The walk up the local mountain was intended to take three hours and the French guide, Loup, slightly changed the route when he realised that some of us were less good walkers than others. Our party was five. Nevertheless the walk above the town was a great success as we saw reindeer close up and wonderful wild flowers. When we got back we took Loup for a drink in a local bar and had the pleasure of drinking beer in the sun, outside at 11:00 PM! We also visited the local church and graveyard. The birdwatching trip lasted all day and was magical. Our guide Misha, was a Ukrainian and he knew a lot about birds as did the other two members of our party, who were a delightful Australian couple. We went up high but spent much of our time in the nature area beyond the airport. As well as Eiders, Kittiwakes, Phalaropes, Auks, Barnacle Geese and many others a high spot was seeing masses of distinctive white beluga whales swimming into the fjord following shoals of fish. The walk ended in a yurt with a pleasant picnic, where we were joined by a fairly tame Arctic Skua!!
