- mrs hBiggleswade, United Kingdom21 contributionsDisappointment amongst chaosWent for lunch but it was a very limited menu so had scones and tea. When I went to order the milk was thrown @ me when I asked for more than half a pot. The scone was dry, I cannot eat butter but when asked, no non dairy was available. We sat waiting for each other for abt an hour as we had to ‘split up to save the table’ . It was chaos, we couldn’t find menus and when we did we were no further forward, when we arrived. When collecting my scone and tea a young female decided to take down a cobweb with a brush so it could have fallen in my food; there weee many cobwebs being displaced, why not do before or post closure? The noise in the room was disconcerting as we talked and my friend was unable to process due to the incompatibility of the noise and their hearing aids. It was disappointing there was no real hot food available when we visited so we had no choice but to choose a scone. It used to be so much better.Thank you for your feedback which we always value, good or bad. We're extremely sorry to hear your comments following a recent visit to us. We would like the opportunity to rectify this if possible, please kindly contact us at info@jordansmill.com where we'll do our upmost to resolve this matter. - RoseDca_79 contributionsLuke warm breakfastStrange set up, they can’t seem to get one that works and it is efficient. You order in one place, find a table to wait and collect your food from somewhere else. Hard to find a table, granted not a lot they can do about how busy this place always seem to be! If you come first thing at opening time you’ll be ok but if any later then forget it - queues out the door. Our breakfast was unfortunately luke warm and in parts cold- we asked to have our beans reheated as they were so cold. It seems clear everything is pre cooked and just sits around and is reheated before bringing out. For the price you’d expect more! Good menu though in principle, great choice of different things for breakfast.Thank you for taking the time to review your visit here with us. Firstly we would like to apologise for the warm breakfast you had. We have just purchased a new heated pass on where the food is placed to be collected as we lost a few bulbs in a busy service. We are looking in the very near future to bring in table service, so this will allow you to book your table, once shown to your table the staff here will look after you. We do get very busy, but days such as these we have a host and the tables turn quickly, so no longer than 4 minutes wait max. Glad you like the new menu, hope to see you again soon with our new improved services coming along shortly.Written 29 April 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 9 April 2023
- sophiechapPotton, United Kingdom3 contributionsFather’s Day disappointmentThe dynamic in which this places runs lets it down massively. We went for Father’s Day and fully aware of the way they work - you go up to order your food and collect it yourself and with it being Father’s Day we knew it was going to be busy but it was next level. We arrived for breakfast at 9:30, both queued separately, one for drinks , the other for food, both took about half an hour to make our order. Then sat another half an hour waiting for our food so it took at least an hour to finally get our food! By this point we had cold tea and coffee to ‘enjoy’ with our food. Massively disappointing, it’s not cheap either, over £30 in total for two breakfasts, 1 tea and 1 cappuccino. I’m happy to pay good money but this was massively disappointing. Why not have staff wait on tables in busy periods like this? So instead of a nice Father’s Day quality time breakfast, we spent half of it in a queue, won’t be returning unfortunatelyVisited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 18 June 2023
- Michael384Bedford, United Kingdom129 contributionsNot many positivesHow can it take that long to get a tea/coffee. Well, visit here and you'll soon find out. THE most disorganised cafe/restaurant we've been too. It is frankly embarrassing watching the staff here and the fall out to the customers waiting for their food/drinks. When it does arrive, it's nothing special either. The only redeeming feature is the view TragicVisited July 2023Written 16 July 2023

- Hayley H6 contributionsAppalling Customer ServiceExperienced the worst customer service, and I have worked in hospitality. Busy lunchtime, lots of tables reserved for an hour or more later. We were squeezed on a small table (7 people on a table for 4) and needed a couple of extra chairs so borrowed 2 from a reserved table. 2 of our party went to buy drinks while we looked at the menu to decide on food. A member of staff walked up and took a chair from us saying we need this for a reserved table. We replied but that table is reserved for 1 o’clock? She replied, “well, will you be gone by then?” When we said yes, she turned on her heel and left. No fear, we finished our drinks and left without having any food. And will not be returning again. Thanks very much for your feedback and we are very sorry for your experience. This is not the level of customer service we strive for. The service lets it down. The queue for a simple coffee is always slow and means that it can take 15 minutes to get a coffee. The cakes are okay, but it's a help yourself and they can be left out a little too long. I wanted to treat my daughters and grandchildren to a festive afternoon tea but wanted somewhere that served ‘normal’ sandwiches and not poncy ones and Jordans Mill delivered. The service was great, the food amazing and plenty of choice. The grandchildren loved the cake stands and hot chocolate. Thank you and we will be back.

Attended her for a birthday lunch. Restaurant was clean with ample space between tables. Staff were really friendly with quick service. You order at the bar and the food is bought to you which is really nice. The food was served was very fresh, tasty, and a good size portion. Would definitely go back, especially on a nice summer's day, as there is a lovely view of the river from the restaurant.

Just enjoyed a thoroughly wonderful lunch at Jordan’s, the food was lovely but the reason for the 5star review is the staff, in particular the two main stars were Ted and Joel who I believe are on a work internship from a local SEND college, both young men were a joy to talk too and they were very approachable, they were clearly enjoying their work, their customers and their colleagues alike, It was wonderful seeing Jordan’s being so inclusive, this is a really great initiative and one that other businesses should follow. Keep up the great work lads and thank you for the Beetroot Wellington it was delicious

We visited at lunchtime on a weekday and found the café pleasantly busy, with a nice buzz about the place. The café area itself is light and spacious with plenty of tables a nice large decking area by the river. The food was good quality albeit a bit overpriced.
What could really be improved is the service. The staff we did speak to were very friendly, but there were a few small things that added up to the service not being great...
- There is a single till to place your order, meaning there was a long queue for almost the entire time we were there. No apology for the long wait when you finally are served.
- Trays were provided for the self-serve items (cakes, drinks, kids meals etc.) but there were no counters to actually place the trays as you queue, so you just had to hold onto a heavy tray - not ideal for the largely older clientele!
- It would be much more efficient for the person working the coffee machine to take orders from the queue rather than waiting for that person to arrive at the till before making their drink
- Food had to be collected from the kitchen despite there seemingly being lots of staff milling about. Not a particular issue for us, but again I thought this was not ideal for older people collecting heavy hot plates. It's also not reflective of the price point, which is that of a table-service reastaurant.
We also enjoyed the shop, gardens and woodland walk on site, which are free to walk round and had some fun wooden play pieces for our little one. We probably will return but hopefully the service will have improved by then!
