The mere could be lovely but the sewerage smell from the main street lets it down. The fountain was not working either

Nice mere, rubbish is average. Nice walk. Easy access to town centre. Worth a look should you visit.

This is a unique mere. Very clean, lots of wildlife, plenty of seating. Fishing is available. There is an excellent park with a playground for children. There are several events held in the park including music events, car boot sales and fairs.

Lovely views from the new boardwalk, although whether it is worth the expenditure is a moot point?? Great views across the Mere to the church.

Almost in the centre of town the mere is a great place to wander and the recently opened walkway enables you to get even closer to the wildlife.

The mere is beautiful enough yet it has yet to be fully realised for what it could become with a small amount of investment. All in all it is only the centre of a small market town.

This may be too late for you, but there is a small car park alongside the mere. Alternatively, there are two supermarkets within very close walking distance, both with car parks.
