About
Pensthorpe is the ultimate destination for discovery. Our staggering 700-acre site includes four fabulous gardens and a species-rich nature reserve. Take a trail through wetlands and hedgerows, woodland and riverbanks, and farmland and water meadows. And duck into a bird hide along the way to get up close with feathered friends. There are awesome activities for little nature lovers too. From our impressive outdoor eco-friendly play area, WildRootz, to rope bridges and snaking slides inside Hootz House. Enjoy a ride off-road on the Pensthorpe Explorer and check out fascinating fossils in the Discovery Centre. Finally, don’t forget to wet your beak at our café and stop in our shop for wildlife books, toys, bird feeders, and local produce. Ideally located, close to Fakenham, Pensthorpe makes for an action-packed outing for the whole family. It’s where little adventures happen every day, and every visit helps Pensthorpe Conservation Trust save declining bird species.

Lovely experience with one sad omission.
We were please to see some new additions at Pensthorpe - the new Flamingo area is most attractive, the Crain enclosures gave good views of the Crains with a bonus of Swallows breading in the hide. the Bearded tit enclosure gave wonderful views of what are in the wild elusive birds. Lovely wild flowers all over beautiful. Great new tasteful play area for children and a lovely cafe with nice crunchy scones. One sad omission for us was the Red Squirrels were missing, we had arranged to meet at the Squirrel enclosure but sadly they are not there any more we used to look forward to seeing them scampering around. Jane
Hello, We're so pleased to hear you had a nice visit to us, we've been so fortunate with the weather the last few weeks! Sorry you missed the red squirrels, they were part of our conservation efforts, and we had such a successful breeding programme the red squirrels have been released to various areas to live out their natural lives out of captivity, which is all we could have hoped for. Many thanks for visiting and we look forward to seeing you soon! Best Wishes

    A great day out.
An amazing day out, the breeding area for red listed birds is excellent. As are the many pools, we saw many species we have not previously seen. It could do with more benches at regular intervals though. My wife and I both have leg, and breathing problems, they don't seemed to have considered mobility issues. However for nature lover's, its a great day out, in fact we went twice in the same week.
Hello, Thank you for your 5 star review, it is much appreciated and pleased you had a nice time, we note your comments about benches, we try to have a bench every few hundred yards, but with 700 acres to explore, it is something we have to continuously add to. We hope to see you again soon Best Wishes,

A beautiful place to enjoy a walk and a coffee
We visited for the first time in many years and were impressed by all the improvements since last time. The different walks and wildlife are lovely and we enjoyed exploring all the different areas and observing the wildlife on the water from the many viewing hides. There is a nice cafe / restaurant were we enjoyed a coffee and a very nice cake! The cost for entry is £15 per adult (less for children) so could soon add up for a family however there is so much to see and do that you can spend many hours exploring. Definitely worth a visit.
Hello, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, so pleased to hear you had a nice time, and we can't wait to welcome you back again soon! Best Wishes,

    Stunning grounds
The gardens and grounds are stunning, we particularly loved the millennium garden which is comparable to the standard of the RHS gardens . We did all the walks and found the park was superbly maintained and layed out . Checked out the children's area which looked fabulous, we would definitely come back and bring my Granddaughter . Only downside was the cafe , it was painfully slow service, this could be easily rectified as it was so disorganised .
Hello, Thank you so much for your 5 star review, we really appreciate you visiting and your subsequent feedback, we have launched a new till system which has caused us some initial teething issues so hopefully the cafe will be a little speedier on your next visit, so thank you for your patience. Best Wishes,

    Garden lovers paradise
We had an hour or two to spare today and visited specifically to see the gardens. We were not disappointed, they are stunning. The abundance of colour, light and shade, and texture make for a wonderful experience. The new butterfly installation is fascinating and worthy of more than a cursory glance.
Hello Judith, Thank you very much for visiting, we're so pleased you enjoyed the gardens and also our temporary Amberlights installation - which we're also in awe of too, it's here until September. We hope to see you again soon Best WIshes,

Fun for the family & quality gardens to enjoy.
As a long term subscriber & local businessman, I have great respect for the careful and sensitive change that the Jordans have developed over the last 20 years. As a family we come to release the very young in to the amazing and child friendly "Hoots House", where we enjoy them exhausting themselves on the multitude of ropes, wooden climbing apparatus and slides, whilst we take a welcome coffee break. Then we leisurely walk to the Melenium Gardens and luxuriate in the multitude and diversity of plants & trees displayed. At this time of year it is a array to feast your senses on, appreciated by everyone now that the young are quieter. Fantastic views across lakes & meres. If you're looking for a lovely few hours besides glorious water then it's a great place, like no other, to chill out and enjoy.
Hello, Thank you very much for visiting and for your feedback, it means the world to the team, and we have lots more plans in the pipeline - so watch this space! Best Wishes,

    A wonderful day out
We’ve came to Pensthorpe in February & now July 2023. We have had a fantastic time in both occasions can vouch it is a great day out all year round! You can easily spend all day here which makes the entry prices very palatable. The outside inside play areas are incredible. The inside play area is well organised with a 1 hour booking system and didn’t feel busy even in the height of the summer holidays. The grounds are immaculate and it is a joy to walk around with lots of little surprises to keep the children and adults entertained. Our 3 children loved the kids activity sheet & their free seeds, badge and stickers at the end. The cafe serves great food and my partner who is vegan and gluten free was well catered for. We would recommend a visit to anyone, young or old and all year round.

    Great place
As we had not visited before we called ahead to check out the facilities & we pleased that we were able to book a mobility scooter. This helped us to get the most out of our visit. We enjoyed our visit with our grandson. He loved the slides in hoots house & the tunnels & adventure of the outdoor play area. The weather was kind to us & we were lucky enough to see wildlife up close including nesting swallows. All the staff we encountered were kind & helpful. All in all a great trip.
Hello Pauline, Thank you for visiting us for the first time, we're thrilled to read you enjoyed your visit to us and were able to make use of our mobility scooters which we hire out. I'll pass your kind comments onto the team. Best Wishes,

    Great day out.
What a fabulous place to go for a day. We went as a 3 generation family, including a 2 yr old. The gardens were lovely and the walks interesting. Our 2yr old loved the inside play while we enjoyed a drink upstairs! The shop was very tasteful with a wide range of items. The only slight negative was the slow queue at the cafe. Thank you.
Hello, Thank you for your lovely feedback, we're really pleased to hear every generation had a nice visit, and we can't wait to welcome you all back again soon Best Wishes,

An Incredible Space that Keeps Everyone Entertained
Probably one of the best natural, wild and fun family places to visit. There is so much to see, with walks moving through wetlands, wildflower meadows, bird hides, bridges, and pathways, ensuring everyone remains engaged. The indoor and outdoor play areas are fantastic, keeping our group of 4 - 10-year-olds entertained, whilst the Millenium garden, sculptures, flamingos and crane areas are all beautiful. Pensthorpe is a brilliant family day out for all generations. Highly recommended.
Hello, Thank you for your 5 star review, we're so pleased you enjoyed all we had to offer, we hope we can welcome you back again soon! Beat Wishesm

What a wonderful day out with my friend to celebrate her birthday! I was simply bowled over by the beautiful landscape, amazing birds, lovely gardens and stunning sculptures. You turn a corner and there is a stag or birds or a fairy or flowers in among the real flowers - so well done and realistic. The birds, of course, are the piece de resistance and visiting in May meant we saw loads of chicks including baby cranes. They are so cute and it being able to view them from the security of a hide was win win. The flamingoes are magnificent - all pink and on one leg but no young as yet though the parents were sitting in nests ready for hatching. There is so much space that, although there are many cars in the car park, you never feel it's crowded. Quite the best nature reserve I have been too.

I took a friend who will probably join as she has a disabled relative & her visit made her realise how easy it is to get around with a wheelchair. Let alone how much to enjoy & see & do with little ones too!

Absolutely stunningly presented site, so many of the birds are clearly used to being fed by visitors that they are very comfortably getting up close and personal (this might be a little intimidating for the nervous or the small folk). This gave brilliant opportunity to get some great pictures very close up with just a smart phone. We did walk around the whole site and spent a little time in many of the hides and filled a good 4-5 hours, it would be easy to fill a whole day if you had a greater interest in photography or birdwatching with binoculars (or to simply sit and read amongst the beautiful sounds of the great outdoors)

Had a wonderful time at Pensthorpe with our 4 year old daughter. We have been many times now and just love being in the outdoors. No tech anywhere and our daughter absolutely loves learning all about nature and playing in the amazing play area.

Went on the Dawn Chorus walk (very) early this morning and had a great time. Pensthorpe is such a magical place and to be able to go round at this special time was wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. Would recommend visiting Pensthorpe for a visit to a really wonderful place. The breakfast was excellent.

An amazing place to walk.i never tire of it. As a solo walker I feel safe and particularly appreciate not having to fear being accosted by dogs off leads. I visit regularly, as a member, to de stress or uplift my mood. I have a 3.5 mile route around the outside then the inside of the park and the cafe serves good snacks and meals to enjoy after.

We visited today, myself and my husband (30’s), with our two children (2 and 10 months) and my in-laws (60’s) and all had a fantastic day with there being something for everyone. We arrived when it opened at 10am and left when it closed at 4pm (closed early for staff training).

It’s very good value for money with the Hoots indoor adventure play and messy play session (10-12am) included for free.

We took a picnic for lunch but purchased hot & cold drinks there, plenty of picnic tables around.

The staff especially in Hoots and the garden staff were really friendly, taking time to interact with my children.

An amazing day where the adults got to be big kids and the small kids slept all the way home.. we will all sleep well tonight!

Will be visiting again when we are holidaying in the area and have already recommended to friends.
