Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This has been an anticipated bucket list trip for me for many years. I had to go alone as dogs not permitted - which is totally understandable! WOW! This did not disappoint, it was the penultimate day to end of the season and I was delighted to get a place on board. The staff were so friendly and kind, so encouraging for someone afraid of boats too! We had the most beautiful day and it was a magical experience that cannot be beaten. Thank you to the amazing crew!

We realise care has to be taken when approaching the seals, and that nature can't be controlled(!), but eventually to see just 4 or 5 seals from quite a long distance away was very disappointing. We later heard, too late, that the Blakeney trips were far more successful. Nevertheless, personally, I was also interested in travelling on the low tide Wash sandbanks and thoroughly enjoyed that aspect.

A very overpriced and disappointing experience. After a trundle across a large expanse of wet sand in a noisy smelly and rather elderly ex-military amphibious craft, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a handful of seals at a distance of about two hundred yards. Twenty pounds each is a lot of money for such a lack lustre experience. If you want a ‘real’ seal watching experience I would advise going a bit further round the coast to Morston Quay near Blakeney.

It was amazing to see the seals so close up. It was also great to have knowledgable crew who could answer all our questions.

We booked for the seal safari, which is basically a drive across the sandbanks in the 'washmonster'. Low tide seems to be their only time to do this, presumably because that's when the sandbanks are visible and the seals haul out. It's such a vast area and seems bigger the further you get,. There was plenty of room for everyone to get up to see the seals out on the sandbanks We took some great photos. It was a very pleasant trip and great for those who get seasick!

Keen to see the seals we set off on time in a full boat(truck!!!) . The bad weather was soon upon us but with ponchos supplied we braved the wind and rain and soon emerged to calm dry summer weather. We saw the seals and returned with views of the Norfolk coastline.

Searles sea tours to Seal Island was absolutely Amazing. We got to see so many Seales and the crew were very cautious how we approached them so as not to scare them. As a wheelchair user the crew could not have made it better for me to see them and they made sure I was safe boarding and then disembarking after the tour. They were first class and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We will definitely do it again. Gio 🥰🥰

Well, we left full ratings for our visit so not guilty lol, but maybe ask those who didn't leave full ratings...
Another thing to consider are the vagaries of review sites in general, ratings are open to 'sabotage' and 'mates ratings' etc.

Can I use or get a boat trip to skegness. It would be so much better the drive is awful.

They are just tours, they don't go to Skegness. One is a short one that gives you some local knowledge, the other one you go out and hopefully see sea lions.

Is there an optimum time of day to do the tour to see the most seals or is it generally pot luck?

They only go when the tide is right so you always see the seals there's about a dozen or so

What was the cost of the trip as we are going back to Hunstanton next year and there are three children to go with me 4,5 and 6 yrs. Look forward to your response with thanks

It is fairly steep but it’s worth it. I believe it’s about £18 for adults and £9 for children. Don’t quote me on this.

Hi I have a few questions to ask. Firstly is this place near Great Yarmouth? How would I go about booking and also is it suitable for my children ages 16,9 & 3. Any info/tips and just general how it all works I'd be very grateful to hear. Thank you

You're looking at about a 70 mile drive from Great Yarmouth.
We popped in to the kiosk on the sea front to book the day before, but paid on the day of the tour. So you can call the number listed on their site to book on, and pay on the day.
We booked the seal safari, and I'd say it would be perfect for a 16, 9 and 3 year old. There were quite a few children on our tour and they all seemed to be having a good time!
