About
Daily boat trips from Morston quay to see the seals on Blakeney Point in their natural environment. We are on the north Norfolk coast (A149), with our ticket office in the Anchor Pub. We are a family run business, comprising boats and pub, and love the chance to share our unique way of life. Blakeney point is also internationally famous for migrant birds, an amazing breeding and feeding ground for terns, oystercatchers, ringed plover, and many more. A must for all bird lovers. Seals are in their abundance, Common and Grey, with pups being born summer and winter. Nov and Dec are notable for their thousands of seals along the shore, a truly spectacular sight. We are a happy bunch, with lots of information to share, and with a true passion for the area. The pub has been in the family for over 100 years, and the boats have been started up and run by the Temple family for well over 70 years. Our skippers are exceptional in their ability and experience. We hope to see you!

I did this boat trip whilst on holiday in Blakeney. I booked a few days before and turned up on the day to pay and go on the trip. It was very good and we got quite close to the seals without disturbing them. We also got great views of the old lifeboat station on our way to the point. The skipper was very knowledgable and explained everything very well. The whole trip probably took just short of an hour and a half.

This truly was an amazing experience. We were very lucky to have the great weather, and ever better skipper Derek! He breadth of his knowledge meant he had facts for everyone- even 14th century churches for me! He kindly made it an unforgettable experience for my friends birthday. The Temple team is truly one of a kind for this experience and would chose them any day of the week. We also got lucky to catch a fantastic migration with Derek giving us a couple of go rounds to truly make the most!

Awful company - AVOID - rude staff - no respect - especially for people with special needs. no warning about the walk from the car park to TEMPLES, Uneven hilly ground with potential to fall. Very rude woman takes the payment and treats you in a patronising manner.
Hopefully these people will stop trading soon. Recommendation - use a different company for your seal trip.

Friendly, fun and knowledgable tour guides. A great trip out to the seals and learnt lots of local facts on the way. We really enjoyed our time.

Undoubtedly the highlight of our Norfolk trip. At the time we visited (mid week in August), the boat tours operated only in the morning, and so you might need to plan your itinerary in advance. A very professional set up, our guide was knowledgable, humorous and respectful of the natural wildlife. My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time on the 45 minute boat ride which takes you out from the beautiful marshes into the open water. And yes we saw lots of seals - sunning themselves on the sandbanks, and poking their heads up from the water and watching us with curiosity. Terrific! After the visit we drove down towards Cromer for some delicious seafood (Cromer crab!).

Great trip. Very gentle sail in shallow waters (even got stuck on the sand at one point!) so no problem if you have nervy sailors or sea sickness. Saw lots of seals both on land and in the sea. Expensive but worth it. We could even take our dog.

So many things about Norfolk are wonderful from a tourist’s point of view but the best is the people. Kind, twinkly, a bit mischievous - and these are some of the people who run Temple’s. The staff were all really knowledgeable and friendly in a slightly courtly and very kind way - I don’t know how else to put it. Everyone on our boat loved it though I was a bit sad to see so few people leaving a tip. Not that we were even pointed towards the tip bucket - perhaps that explains it. I’m sure the other tour operators out of Morston are good as well but we were really struck by these guys - do go and do bring tipping money with you - you’ll wish you’d brought more!

I don't know how this experience can be improved - it seems to rely on disturbing wild-life in their home environment.
Yes, it was good, it was up close, there were seals in the water near us (but not "around us") and its certainly the case that most of the seals ignored us.
But quite a number looked as if they were disturbed (on their breeding grounds) and this makes me feel quite uncomfortable.

Spending a week in Wells-next-the-sea, we had heard of the famous seal trips. We chose Temple seals trips as we wanted to pick a local company and we were not disappointed! Everyone at Temple seals trips was lovely, directions were clear and we found the van easily. We mentioned that our eldest was a bit apprehensive as she had been sea sick previously, therefor we were put in the bigger boats. All guides were very knowledgeable and were very happy to answer our questions. We were on the evening trip and saw so many deals it was amazing… what a beautiful experience while respecting their habitats!
We would definitely do it again!

Is it a bumpy ride in the boat as likely to have sea sickness

It was very calm but I mentioned my little one and I were prone to sea sickness and we were put in the larger boat and we were all ok. The whole team were great about it.

This is likely to be a really stupid question but I really want to see the seals. Can we bring a small dog? Me and my husband can take it in turns to stand right back while the other looks at the seals. As I type this I think the answer will be no.

Hi - sorry for the delay in answering - but the answer is yes you can bring a small dog! We are asking passengers to self load at the moment to avoid contact as much as possible, so you just need to be able to lift your dog on and off! Give us a ring 01263 740791 and we can book you in!

Hi there - how much per person, and do you provide life vests for non-swimmers please?

There are life jackets in the boat plus other safety stuff but you don’t wear them during the trip - only if something goes wrong. The boats are sturdy too

I’m looking to plan a trip centred round booing a seal trip. Which is the best time of year to see the pups and have the best experience?
Jane T
morston
Hi - we have the great weather and common seal pups now, but they can swim immediately so we never know if you’ll see one for sure. The grey seal pups are late November, December and they can’t swim, so we get an amazing sight of thousands of seals on the land. Obviously it’s colder then, but still a great trip! Booking ahead is crucial now as we are limited with numbers on boats due to covid - so bear that in mind!!!

Hi we are staying in Blakeney 8th and 9th Feb. Will there be any trips those days. Thanks.

There was only one trip a day when my wife and I visited earlier in January but, due to the demand, added a second trip.
To be honest there were only about 30-40 seals left on the point as they had returned to the sea. I'd suggest a walk along the beach from either Waxham or Winterton to Horsey Gap.
Hi is there parking by the boat and if so what is the walking distance - thanks
Jane T

Yes most trips can be driven to with no walking, but it does depend on height of tide so ring the office for a chat!! 01263 740791. Many thanks.
