About
Felixstowe Museum houses 14 galleries displaying the military and social history of this popular seaside resort and outlying area. Even the building is of historical interest as it was once a submarine mining establishment and is possibly the last example of such in the world. New from Easter 2023 - The Beehive Cafe serving coffee & cake, light lunches and snacks, etc. Open to all.

    An Historic Gem
What an excellent museum of local and national history. Each of the historic rooms are themed. Airforce, Navy, local history, Port history and more. All packed with fascinating and high quality exhibits, attractively and informatively displayed. The volunteer staff are friendly enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. If you love real history this is a must. If you don’t it will change your mind. We’ll be back!

    Hidden gem
Turned up to visit the adjacent Fort which was closed due to high winds. So found this place by accident. What a gem. Great collection of artifacts and memorabilia with some enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Spent a good couple of hours looking around. Excellent

    Extremely interesting
Popped into the museum after visiting the fort with a combined ticket. There was so much to see there and so interesting . Spent a fair amount of time visiting each area - found some really interesting not just the history of the area, but info about the paddle steamers era and how Felixstowe Docks work. Extra bonus was the Back to the 80’s exhibition which had some great items in it. Found the staff there really friendly , enthusiastic and passionate about their museum.

    Preschool visit
The Children of St Andrews preschool had a wonderful time visiting the museum. The staff were very accommodating allowing the children to walk around at their own pace. They were very friendly and knowledgeable talking to the children at their level. The museum visit gave the children a wonderful insight to history and provided lots of learning opportunities that could not be achieved in a class room. We will be back again next year.

Absolutely brilliant so much history from over the years. Volunteers are lovely and have lots of knowledge and enthusiastic about everything. The museum has a lot of memorabilia from RAF- 1930s -to the 1980s it’s a wonderful collection and brilliant to see. The 1980s room takes you straight back to your 1980s lounge - very nostalgic and brings back so many memories.
Really recommend a visit - also can have a lovely snack and drink on the way out. Lovely afternoon thank you.

Well worth the walk from the town centre (there is a nearby car park if you prefer to drive, also a bus stop). We headed straight to the café (only recently opened) for coffee and a very nice Bakewell. The museum is split between about fourteen small rooms, all different and interesting. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. You can also watch the enormous container ships being loaded at the port
