About
If one picture on a postcard could sum up an idyllic English Seaside destination it would have to be Southwold Pier. Decked out across the sea in the picturesque coastal town of Southwold, this pillared walkway has a magnetic attraction and something for everyone to enjoy! There's so much to do a whole day can drift by while you walk the planks and explore this historic icon.

    Traditional pleasant diversion
Much of the pier is being refurbished so is fenced-off, including the water clock (which is away being serviced), but the pier itself is still quite cute, and the cafe at the seaward end was modestly priced and surprisingly good. The lady serving was super-helpful and nice. I didn't win on the slot machines!

Fish and chip shop you would drive miles for!
What a hidden gem! Clean beach! Pier with lots of nice gift shops and cafes BUT the best place was the chip shop! BEST fish and chips I/ we have ever had in our lives! Loved it so much went back (40 min drive) again the next day! Crispy cod and Haddock, cooked in fresh oil! And hot straight off the deep oil it was swimming on! Chips were fresh, hot, soft in middle and crispy from the outside! good potatoes! Tasty potatoes! Just needed salt and vinegar! Oh and i nearly forgot best tartar sauce to go with the flaky succulent cod and haddock! I highly recommend this chippy! My mouth is watering as i write this review! A Memory i wont be forgetting 😁

Great trip to Suffolk (although unforeseen extra costs)
Had a wonderful time in Suffolk visiting lots of places along the coast. Love Southwold , Aldeburgh especially. Lots to see and do. Great food and lots of different pubs, cafes etc. I would just like to warn you not to park in the Easton Farm Car Park (which is at the end of the Southwold Pier car park. I'm not sure the parking machine is working correctly plus there is a time limit for parking/buying your ticket. We got caught out recently on our trip. We purchased 2 tickets for the time we were parked and the machine produced 2 tickets, but we have received a letter with a fine of £100 saying that we didn't purchase the first ticket, we didn't keep the tickets and cannot prove otherwise. In fact they only took one payment from our bank . I have since seen others have been caught out at the same car park so beware.

    A seaside delight
Southwold Pier and Boardwalk is a complete delight. There are over 200 beach huts along the front, almost all of them well maintained and beautifully painted in bright colours. The beach is largely sand and a great expanse with room for all. Out of season dogs are allowed on the beach, but at other times the boardwalk is still a lovely place for them to stretch their legs. The pier itself is a lovely throwback to simpler times, with crazy mirrors, photo opportunities, a fun clock, seating and of course arcades. However one of the arcades is a wonderful old fashioned affair rather than the modern same as every other arcade type. There are also cafes and wonderful ice creams available. Well worth a visit whatever the weather. There is parking along the front so also relatively easy, although it might be harder in the height of summer. Some of the beach fronts can be rented, which could be a lovely thing to do in the summer.

    FABULOUS meal on Southwold Pier.
Just had fabulous Fish and Chips for two lunch time at the restaurant on the pier. The food was beautifully cooked and was presented well. The staff made you feel welcome .So good that it is dog friendly as well. It was nice to meet the new owner and wish them all success. Will certainly be back many times and well recommend.

    A welcome return
Recently reopened, under new owners, popular tourist attraction, which will now serve Sunday lunches. I wish them well. It's a superb location: drinking & eating whilst watching the tide ebb and flow. It reminds me of a favourite Italian restaurant in a similar location on Brighton's seafront. I'm sure as the new owners - who have only been in situ a matter of weeks - work their way through the "to do" list, will clean the windows and ready the external seats for summer use, so that this venue can be enjoyed to the max

    Eccentric traditional pier
Beautiful old pier, steeped in character. My kids loved the wacky mirrors along one side of the building. The gift shop sold some nice souvenirs and crafts. One room had some eccentric video arcade games looked to have been created by the nutty professor. Zimmer frame challenge across the road. A moving photo booth. The wind was blowing a gale when we went but we enjoyed it.

Lovely walk along the pier & promenade
Lovely walk along the pier then up along the promenade to the dog friendly beach at the far end from the Pier. Lovely walk through the town around the shops and stopped for a coffee. There’s a lovely gift shop on the pier and I bought my mum a lovely brooch. Dogs welcome on the pier and in the shop. Lovely day out and we did 13000 steps!!

    Nice Place
While on holiday in Gorleston on Sea, we decided to visit this place as soon as many people had said how nice it was. It was a cold day and very windy however we decided to walk along the promenade first and visit the pier. The pier was free to walk along and there was quite a few gift and souvenir shops, a cafe, some wacky mirrors and The Under The Pier Show. The beach was clean also. There was a very large car park right by the beach and pier. We walked across to the Putting on the Green cafe for a drink before going around the town. The town itself was lovely with some great shops - plenty for everyone. A lovely day was had and we will certainly go there again if we come over this way again.

Great pier with unique facilities.
Excellent fish n chips and fabulous ice cream ( particularly the banofee and Eton mess flavours).
The Pier boasts a most unusual games room developed especially for Southwold Pier, containing unique innovative and entrepreneurial created games ( never before seen anywhere).
A wonderful water clock features on the decking.
Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere to step back in time and enjoy the coastal scenery.

Very cool place to visit. My favourite part was definitely under the sea, had some vintage arcade games that I’ve never seen before. I didn’t play any of them, due to have a dog with me and being restricted. It was cool watching others play them though! Very wacky and worth a visit!

Visited Southwold 9 years ago and had some fantastic fish and chips from the pier, as we were in the area today we had a romantic notion that they would be the same, how very wrong we were!!!
It was around 4pm and I’m sure the chips were from last night or even Saturday night! I chose cod and that was the same, it wasn’t even warm. My hubby chose plaice and at least that was freshly cooked, but as for the rest a waste of £25 😡

Please be aware if you use Easton Farm Car Park.

We visited Southwold August bank holiday last year and ended up getting a parking fine because we failed to purchase a ticket within the 10 minute grace period when entering the car park.

We made every effort to purchase the ticket. Whilst I queued, my wife tried to download the app but due to the amount of people and the poor signal we failed to do so within 10 minutes. We consequently received a parking fine.

What makes it worse we never received the original parking fine through the post so we had no chance to appeal. The first we knew about when we received a final demand for £170

We tried to reason with parking company and their solicitor with no joy. We therefore have ended up paying the £170 to avoid court proceedings.

This company is an absolute disgrace and because of this I will never visit Southwold again. If anyone else visits I would recommend NOT parking in Easton Farm car park at the end. You enter into a contract to get a ticket within 10 minutes, as soon as you enter the car park.
