- nightowl468 contributionsClean and attractive seafront...Most times I visited Bexhill seafront I could never get beyond the distraction of the de la Warr Pavilion and the colonnade (!) and so this time I was staying for a week and I thought the seafront was just right. It was clean and tidy-looking overall (no peeling paint on the beach-front railings as you can find sometimes, as they are unpainted aluminium or similar, no litter on the beach etc). There were plenty of wooden bench seats and at least three covered shelters made of the same light wood in a contemporary style, and the exotic foliage is notable along the front. There is one kiosk selling hot & cold drinks and ice cream and, I think, a second larger kiosk that cafe selling hot food such as fish & chips. This beach-front area is short (say, compared to the three miles alongside Eastbourne front) which was just right for me, as a walk from the Pavilion to the 'end' of that part (where the road turns up into Richmond Road). All the people on the front were respectful, in that they were keeping their dogs on a lead and the cyclists were not suddenly appearing right behind you! My favourite thing to do, though, was probably to sit with a coffee on the Pavilion balcony, watching the sea and sky across the top of the cupolas of the colonnade. It is a nice seafront to walk along during the evenings, as it was very bright and sunny until 9 pm in June. I do realise I was there outside of school holiday period and the seafront may well be a lot busier with families in July and August; when the tide is right out, there is quite a wide stretch of sand between the sea and the pebble beach.Visited June 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 June 2023
- hiddeninherheadUnited Kingdom84 contributionsA New Life on the CoastI moved to Bexhill late last year and I love living on the seafront. I enjoy the quieter and calmer pace of life. Looking from or to the Pavilion, the beach looks good from most angles. The only negative I can think of is the continued sewage dumping into the sea.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten 5 August 2023

Nice quiet beach but best part is the rock pools when the tides out. My grandson loved looking in them just as I did.

A very lovely beach, mainly shingle (except on low tide, where you get some sand/mud). Nice and spacious, it never feels crowded - except on the promenade, where there's plenty of cyclists and dogs you need to be aware of. There's a few toilets here and there, but I feel it could have a few more kiosks and places offering drinks, etc specially at the east end.

Bexhill Beach is an excellent place for taking in the sea air. Unfortunately, being mostly shingle it is neither wheelchair nor pushchair friendly. However, there is an excellent promenade at the rear of the beach (East Parade) which is ideal for walking and which is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly. There is parking both on the road at the rear of the beach and in the car par at the the De La Warr Pavilion. Refreshments are available from the outlets along the promenade. Toilet facilities are at the east end of the beach.

Being new in the area..how good is the Policing here..my ill/frail husband was racially abused verbally called names and F word x20! Called 999 and no feed back from the Police until now ..incedent took place Aug 28..he happened to be son-in-law of our neighbor who is so .. so according to all the neighborhood...yes, I rated Bexhill to be excellent beach but did not realize the other side of the story..how is it to actually live here?

I have not regretted downsizing and moved here as the place looks serene, dog friendly beach ..morning walks are fantastic..but be weary there are yobs, racial abuser and like my my husband who no longer can protect himself for being ill..then no choice but to run indoors and lock yourself in..not safe at all..but a lovely, beautiful Bexhill for short visit and trip only! My opinion based on my latest experience....

Are you allowed to put tents on the beach during daytime/evening? Not to camp overnight, just for some privacy and storage?

Some people use the pop up portible tents but remember beach is pebbles not sand.

Are dogs allowed on the beach
Jim B
19 contributions
Yes, on parts of the Beach; no on other parts at certain times of the year, mainly the central area. There are ample signs saying where dogs are allowed and there are many, many people who walk their dogs freely on the beach. There are also many bins for disposing of dog mess.
Is there rock pools at Bexhill beach please ?
