    An excellent family day out
This is a really interesting place to visit with school age children , particularly if they're interested in history. There are several rooms to visit, each full of information, memorabilia and artefacts on different aspects of the armed forces, wars and social history . The simulated air raid is excellent, as are the tunnels beneath the fort and the views from the top of the fort. Our grandchildren, aged 7 and 9 found the day very interesting, though they criticised the playground as too babyish!

    Worth a visit
Interesting but disappointing. I’ve visited many similar forts across the south coast and this is the most disappointing. Lots of areas closed due to health and safety concerns, lots of other doors and areas roped off with no explanation. I am led to believe that a few million is going to be spent soon to rectify this issue, just not helpful for me today. The exhibits are very formative however dated. The fort is advertised as dog friendly, however we were told dogs were not allowed in the cafe and to tie them up outside! Not a chance that was happening and very inconsiderate for solo travellers, so we went elsewhere.

    Activity at the Fort
We had a wonderful day at the fort with our 7 year old. Newhaven Art Club were running a free event for children all about Eric Ravilious, where children were invited to create their own plate in his style. They had lots of images of his work there as models for the children and a wide range of materials for the children to use: colouring pencils, felt tips, paint, paint pens, brush pens, and sparkly bits and sequins to stick on. They also ran a competition and all children that took part went away with something. The staff were great with the children and very knowledgable.

    Nice place
A great place to walk around and some excellent displays. Walked around the top of the fort and you can see all along the coast. Nice cafe on site and the staff were friendly. Parking just outside. Great place.

    Hidden, unpublished gem.
I cannot rate this highly enough. An unexpected gem. Great site to wander around with amazing coastal views. Exhibits were informative and interesting with enough to entertain all ages. A particularly poignant display with a focus on the war poets of WWI.

    An unexpected fascinating delight !
Went on a bit of a whim, never having been before. Very warm welcome, including our two little dogs. Dogs on leads welcome everywhere apart from in cafe and the play area...fair enough. There was a covered space outside the cafe which we could use. Really interesting mock-up exhibits, air raid shelters, blitzed houses. Great views from the top. They've made a real effort to preserve the place for us all to enjoy its history.

We visited the Fort on a crisp but beautiful day and what an amazing time we had, the exhibition halls were very informative and very interactive, I would highly recommend Newhaven Fort for all ages.

Excellent visit - free parking, interesting exhibits covering lots of themes and a really nice cafe. Go before they close for refurbishment.

Learnt a lot about various historical moments. Plus, fairly accessible for those with mobility aids.

Only let down was two coaches full of screaming school kids. Also great that once you get a ticket you can return for free whenever you want within a year!

This is a great place to visit, it has interesting and funny exhibits. The vidèo was funny and the accessibility was great. I use a scooter and could nearly go everywhere. Thanks 😊
