Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting Eastbury Manor House, we made the journey by rail out to Upney station to walk to the grade 1 National Trust house. Though until we walked in the door we were unsure if the house was open, as there appeared to be a problem with the website and attempts to contact on the phone were not answered. We spent an enjoyable 90 minutes looking at, viewing and reading the information about this house from the 1570's. The dry weather had impacted on the garden which was obviously waiting for much need rain. Finishing our look through the house, we stayed for lunch, though a number of the advertised lunch items, were still unavailable after midday.

Excellent visit to Eastbury Manor House which is right in the middle of a housing estate in Barking. Smaller than some of the other National Trust properties but interesting nonetheless. Tours are available and Sue, our guide was excellent and gave us a very detailed and interesting tour. She is very knowledgeable about the house and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. There was a school party there too which was great. Volunteers dress up in the period costumes and there is a lot to see. Some rooms are being renovated so remain closed. The coffee shop is the best priced to date and very good value. Train to Barking then bus to Tudor Road. House is a few minutes walk from there.

What a hidden gem. The building is impressive. Our guide, David, was very knowledgable and entertaining. The cream teas are brilliant - which we had in lovely garden. We had a great time. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited with a friend only to find out that they are only open on Sundays. The front lawn looks pretty sorry and bedraggled. I didn't bother trying to explore the garden.
The house is in a residential area.

Interesting little manor house, not a huge amount to see but a great piece of local history.
I believe you get much more information on the tour, but it started very late and so i chose to look around the house myself.

As a National Trust member, I have visited many stunning properties; especially in the Midlands, eg Attingham Park, Dudmaston and Croome. Sadly. I have to say this was the most disappointing property I have ever visited. The promised 'beautiful and extensive' gardens were neither beautiful nor extensive. There was virtually nothing in the rooms and the cafe, which at so many properties, is buzzing with life, was devoid of any atmosphere. In fact, the coffee machine was broken. David did his best to bring to life the history of the property but so much of the history was sketchy, we felt none the wiser. What we do know is that the Tudors 'did Tudory things' !
I appreciate that the house had only re-opened 3 weeks earlier but this was not what I have come to expect from such visits.

Beautiful house made ever more interesting by the lovely tour we had by Jennifer. There are so many interesting stories and anecdotes you only learn when you join the tour. Fabulous and thank you, Jennifer.

Hi, has anyone been to a wedding here and can tell me what the food was like please? I like the look of the place as a wedding venue, but can’t seem to find a sample menu anywhere. Thanks in advance! 🙂

I am sorry but I don't know my suggestion would be to ring them and ask then if you make arrangements direct you will be sure someone is there to show you around. Good luck with your booking I have been invited to a wedding there in August.
Parking isn't difficult there either.
