Visited the park yesterday which is fantastic by the way and let down only by the shocking service provided by the café.

A long queue at lunchtime (with only one member of staff working), who is abrupt, and most rude.

If you fancy wasting half an hour, waiting for some coffees served by somebody who clearly hates dealing with people I would recommend going to the café.

- outside of that take a flask with you save yourself £20 and the hassle

Visited at Midday 21/11/20 and after a walk around the estate decided to queue for a coffee and a sandwich. There was quite a long queue but when I arrived at the front of the queue to look at which sandwiches were available I was shouted at by the staff behind the counter. Very abrupt and totally needless.

Given the hostile attitude of the staff, in front of other customers, I decided to spend my money elsewhere.

Given the struggles of local businesses during the pandemic I would have thought that you would have welcomed more business but I guess I am wrong.

I would recommend that everyone takes a flask and makes your own drink.

A business that hates its customers.

The park is a lovely place to walk and it was very popular with dog owners. However, they have implemented car park charges about a year ago and now it's £3.35 for one hour or £5 for one day. However, if you are a resident then the charges are £2 for an hour and £3 for the day, still too much to pay. They aren't generating any income from this as installing and monitoring the parking meters cost them a lot of money and so many people no longer go there.

Unfortunately, they have introduced a parking charge (from November 2021) of £3.35 for the first hour and a flat £5 charge for any stay longer than an hour. Not sure what the justification is for such a high fee?
The estate has a great play area for children and many acres to explore. Very impressed with the grounds, but wont visit again due to parking fee.

The Enlightened light show was highly disappointing. Long queues for the car park. Too many people crammed which truly diminishes the experience. We went in 2020 and loved it, this time round we were very underwhelmed. We took 9, 13, 14 and 17 year olds, who all love the festive period but sadly they too were underwhelmed. Final note, everything was way over priced, I expect prices to be inflated at events like this but not to the extent they were.

I have walked my dog over here for many years, and very rarely for more than an hour and cannot understand the high charge of £3.50 for an hour and £5.00 for over the hour. I am happy to pay a lesser charge to use the park but will not pay extra to stay on and enjoy a coffee at one of the cafes or go to the farmers market or shop in the gift shop etc. There are plenty of other places that have these facilities at a lesser or no charge. Very disappointed as it’s a beautiful park to use.

We visited for "Adventure cinema" for a late night showing of the Movie "Scream". On the positive side Hylands Estate/Park provided adequate parking for free and a short walk to the green where the screening was. My low rating is more for the Adventure cinema company that ran the event. We paid £25 for our tickets which was the premium ticket price which guaranteed us a good seat near the front. We got that and actually sat in the front row. However, at £25 a ticket there were no nice touches to make the experience worthwhile or to justify the ticket price. The deck chairs provided had sat out in the rain so each one had a puddle to sit in. This could have been easily avoided by not opening the deck chairs and leaving them closed or by covering them. For something called Adventure Cinema, there was no adventure. You showed yourself to your seat, the film played, the film ended, you walked out. We didn't see a member of staff after showing our tickets. This was simply a film playing in a field. I was expecting someone from adventure cinema to appear up the front of the crowd and welcome us on a microphone, rev up the crowd, tell us something interesting about the film, or play some kind of game with the crowd related to the film. There was nothing. I was hoping for the premium ticket price there would be some nice touches like handing out blankets (it's October at night!), some free snacks or sweets on the seats or something. There wasn't a merchandise stand or anything to buy related to the film. A cocktail related to the film maybe? Something, anything, to make this more of an experience...but sadly there was nothing. We bought some churros from one of the 5 food vendors. We used the portaloos that had no lights and likely peed on ourselves. We watched a film and left. It was very underwhelming and not worthy of calling it an adventure. Id suggest Hylands Estate use a different company for future outdoor cinema screenings because this was dull, overpriced, and gave you nothing that would make you want to return and do it again. Snooze fest.

Visited the National Flower Show at Hylands. The event would have been perfect with an excellent range of plant and garden accessory stalls, if there hadn’t been rain constantly. That’s no one’s fault HOWEVER , being wet through we fancied a drink and a bite to eat but only one of the many food stands had covered seating and as a result probably did the most business. There were many tables in front of the variety of eating/drinking stands but given that the weather in Britain is so changeable, why hadn’t they adopted what markets like North Weald etc do- a simple gazebo type structure with seating underneath allowing visitors to eat and drink in all weathers without getting wet. Many people wanting refreshments opted for a drink only and took cover standing under trees but resisted the temptation of buying what would become wet soggy food. Poor effort in my opinion but other than that would highly recommend on a dry day.

Hardly a National Flower Show.
More like the Chelmsford Flower show.
I felt conned into paying £18 for the privilege of attending a market and being the product myself.
I won’t be going again.
Having said that it was well organised.
The weather was good, but had it been raining it would have been complete washout.

Beautiful venue, perfect for any wedding. Long drive leading to the venue makes a great film shot. Staff are helpful. Only problem is exit on to an a road can be annoying with many cars.
