Good for a relaxing walk

It is good for a nice walk, especially on a sunny day, also there are some cafes near by which you can stop and have a coffee and enjoy the views out to sea

We met up with a number of friends and had a group of 15 young kids. We set up camp on the beach and played there all day. There are grassed areas by the sea walk when the tide is in and there is less space. There are a few nice cafes selling the usual stuff and several clean toilet... More

I've had a BBQ at the beach and I've been kayaking and crabbing. There are toilet facilities and cafes for snakes as well as various ice cream shops to stop by for a treat!

well didn't expect crystal blue seas , but expected sea. the tide was out when we got here at 11.00 am, so first stop was the man made pool for some sea experience, looked more like a swamp , my daughter played on the rocks for about 20 mins then we moved on to the beach near the water fountains... Beautiful day at Chalkwell today, kids played in the Sea, built sand castles, had a picnic, chips & icecream only problem was the main toilets were closed so massive queues at ones near the cafe

Southend has a rough and ready char but the so called beach is not one of them. The tide was out when we visited so it's basically a case of wading for miles in the mud. Limited toilet facilities and curiously no showering facilities. Better off going to somewhere like Margate if you're looking for a day trip from london

I had always heard about trips to South End - fond memories told by many different people, many different walks of life... I was so excited! The day started off perfectly - the sun was beaming down and we had already booked a coach trip down, planning a relaxing chilled-out day lazing around on the beach. How wrong our idea... More
