I have reduced Mobillity , the Friendly Volunteers ensured my access and comfort on the trip was no problem . The Cafe was reflecting past times with iluminated Gas Lighting just adding to our nostalgic day out. The only negative part of the day was being unable to purchase any thing to remind us of our vist when the Gift Shop closed at 1 o'clock . The shop was advertised open 10am to 4 pm.

My Wife & I volunteer on our local Heritage Railway in the Cotswolds & as we were looking after our Grandchildren over Easter so thought it would be nice to take then on the Watercress Line. I am always interested in other heritage railways & have to say I was not disappointed it was a good journey through the beautiful countryside also enjoyed the stop at Ropley where there were plenty of activities for everyone. We were able to take a look at the carriage & Wagon works which is the area I work in at ours, also the carriages we travelled in were in good condition & the volunteer staff were all very friendly. A big thank you to everyone at the Watercress line, yes the Grandsons enjoyed it too

We absolutely loved travelling this wonderful trainline.. it was fun and interesting and beautifully looked after.. above all though was every single member of staff (mostly volunteers) we had lovely chats with so many of them, it really made the experience so memorable.. the gardens are looking fantastic, we managed to stop off at all stations, they were all a credit to those that help with the upkeep - our toddler had such a great time. Well done everyone 👏

Had a lovely day today visiting the Watercress Line for our daughter’s birthday. The stations were clean, the refreshments delicious, the staff efficient and friendly and the train ride delightful! We always enjoy coming here and will definitely be back and recommend to everyone. A thoroughly lovely day enjoyed in beautiful warm sunshine!

I really enjoyed my trip on the Mid Hants Railway. But, I do have one question. What happened to your James?!

Hi, we're really glad you enjoyed your trip on the line. As for James, he is currently residing at another railway waiting for restoration. However, this years Day Out With Thomas will feature three Rusty & Dusty outdoor entertainment shows with Sir Topham Hatt and Diesel, Percy & Toad!

Early evening steam ride with festive lights. An enjoyable evening out. Well organised and on time. Train ride, illuminations, a stop at the station, and a cafe with refreshments available while the engine changes end. Will go again in the daytime perhaps for a meal.

We attended an evening train for the steam illuminations and it was brilliantly done. The effort put in by the team to make the shows fun and work with the tracks played was evident. The stations we all in good condition and well presented and the carriages well looked after (always a plus on a heritage railway). Will be back to check out the railway in the daylight this year I'm sure.

Illuminated train. We went on the penultimate day of the season so was a little odd to have Christmas music but actually still great fun. We were all given illuminated wristbands to add to the atmosphere. Train illuminations managed very well and time at the midpoint to take photos. The railway itself is a ten-mile route with some challenging inclines so you get to experience the loco really working.

So, travelled to Alresford for the Illumination Gala which is put on over the festive period each year. We arrived early to just "chill out" in the cafe before our scheduled departure. Free parking on Sunday - added bonus.
Found all the staff knowledgeable and enthusiastic - unlike when you go to some festive places the staff either don't know about other parts or have had enough and want to go home. All parts were clean and tidy. Illumination itself - well, obviously better getting a later train to get the full effects of the lights - 1 hour 45 minutes return journey goes quick - and the whole family would enjoy it!
