We toured Jane Austen's house for the afternoon. This is not a big house, but it is very well presented and gives the visitor so much information about Jane Austen and her family. It really is a treat. There are very nice gardens attached to the house, also.

Sensitively presented aspects of life of Jane Austen. Piano similar to one Jane Austen owned -can be played by visitors. Helpful guides in some rooms. Interesting introductory film, and goodcshop. Activities for young people, but not really appropriate for small children, as you would expect. Would go again.

Went to visit the house today with American family members . All had a really enjoyable visit . Playing the part and dressing up with the clothes provided and making cards and lavender bags ( a small donation asked for ) very informative visit and we all enjoyed . If you are remotely a fan of Jane Austen's novels, you must visit Jane Austen's House museum. It's where she lived the later years of her life and revised and wrote her later novels. It shows the modest way in which she lived in a very authentic manner. 2017 will be a big year, as it's 200 years since she... More

My husband and I took our Aunty who hadn't been to visit before. We all thought the experience was lovely, it is so nice to see this sort of history right on our doorsteps. You could just soak up the atmosphere as you walked around. Not as much to see as other houses but well worth the visit. Will take... More

While the collection held at the house didn't seem particularly extensive what was there was worth going for. The front counter staff were very friendly however the others gave the impression that our age surprised them so didn't really approach us to assist. It was quite interesting to see all the translated versions of the various novels and I managed... More

Its wonderful to be able to walk through the house where Jane Austen wrote her most famous novels - they even have the table where she sat to write. Staff are without exception helpful, charming and knowledgeable. They all seem to love the house. Lovely little pub opposite for a light meal.

Jane Austens home is set in the picturesque village of Chawton .The museum is very good and the guides are very knowledgeable 2.5 hours whizzed by in know time we then enjoyed a walk around the village I would recommend looking out for St Nicolas church.

I think it would be tue to say you will visit again if able, there is a lot to see and read and it is possible to miss things. The staff are so enthusiastic and will willingly share their time with you
