Turned up unannounced on a rainy Sunday evening so it was busy and we didn't reserve. We had a wait of 30 mins which turned out to be only 20. Despite being busy food was timely tasty and served with an attentive smile. Really tasty food with good portions and well presented. Lovely setting. Limited wine selection but still good.... More

The three of us took a break from flat searching to have a restorative lunch. We chose the Heron on the Lake for its locality to our search area. Can I say we were not disappointed, three excellent Sirloin steaks cooked exactly as requested, all cut like butter. One excellent touch was the free olive oil and balsamic bread dipping... More

Very nice place to eat, decor well suited for the name. They even went through the trouble of getting proper boat paint tubs as a decoration. Not a great beer selection, however you should go there for the food not the beer.

Food was really nice, big portions, pre ordered for party of 22. We had excellent service from Josh who was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble for him. A great xmas lunch. Lovely room and open fire. Thanks Josh

Christmas lunch for 5 ladies. Booked well in advance with Dee at the Heron, and then pre ordered the food. We were all made to feel very welcome, and it was no trouble for the staff to move us to a slightly bigger table when we asked. The whole meal was lovely, with plentiful vegetables and very tasty food. Our... More

I went here on Sunday night with a group of friends. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was grey in colour and watery. It was altogether very unappetising. I would love to know what fish it was and where it was supplied from. Tasteless and very poor in quality. I would like to add that there were a... More

En route to a hotel in Hook we stopped here for lunch. The location really is fantastic, it was a shame it was raining and cold. However we were warmly welcomed and seated at a table by the window with a great view of the lake. The waiting staff were very attentive, the atmosphere pleasant, and the food was excellent.... Went for a family meal on a Friday evening after work with 6 year old son - food was first class and the service was excellent - Ben made all of us including our son feel extremely welcome.
