Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting and informative walk 5 mile from the Trundle down to West Dean with a focus on flint. It’s formation and uses. Included glorious views across the Downs and the Solent towards the Isle of Wight plus a very nice coffee shop stop !!

So glad you enjoyed it 😊 The walk is a great combination of history, geography, architecture with a delightful village cafe thrown in for good measure!

I found out about Reclaim The Night - Rural Strides via the South Downs Dark Skies Festival.

Malinka, who leads the group walks, is so approachable, helpful and articulate.

I came to the event solo and felt very welcome and safe.

I loved my evening adventure :)

I attended a "Walk the Chalk" walk yesterday. Malinka was so knowledgeable and helped us to look more closely at the chalk we were walking on as well as the surrounding landscapes and how they came to be there. Interesting and inspiring!

Fabulous well thought out walk. Malinka shared her knowledge about the geology, evolution and use of this beautiful area. She was sociable and fun. The walk went at a good pace. If you haven't explored this area, Malinka can tell you all about it.

A lovely walk with no chance of getting lost and excellent informative information by Malinka along the way about the history, and particularly geology. A lovely day out made much better by the excellent guide. This was a walk into the Downs from South Harting of nearly 7 miles.

Many thanks for joining me on my first Walk The Chalk Ross. Very different to the Himalayas but hopefully equally interesting 😊

I have been on lots of walks with Malinka who is always totally prepared for any emergency and a wealth of knowledge about the walks and what can be seen or found on them. They are getting very popular for good reason. You must sign up in good time as they fill up quickly.

Really enjoyable walk with Malinka last weekend. She is very knowledgeable about the Western Weald and helped me look at the landscape with very different eyes. Chalk is fascinating stuff.

Joined one of Malinka's walks while on a visit from China. I was introduced to the walk by my friend who lives in the area. The walk was professionally organised and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Most people there did not know one another but everyone was friendly and we had lovely chats during the walk. Malinka made sure that the group stayed together despite different walking speeds. It started raining heavily towards the end of the walk but that did not spoil the fun and we made it back safely and nicely exercised.
Recommend this to anyone who wants outdoor exercise. It's a great way of meeting people too!

Many thanks Sophie - the rain was definitely something to remember from that walk. Fortunately, with the worst of it falling just after we made it back to our cars!! Hope you are dry in Shanghai now 😊

A delightful walk around a local vineyard with gorgeous views to build up our thirst then cheese and wine tasting with a very knowledgeable and approachable English wine guide. A truly fantastic summer afternoon.

Like all of the Rural Strides walks, this one included such variety: woodland, fields, climbs, descents, warm sunshine and a bit of drizzle. There was interesting conversation with like-minded companions, and it culminated in fabulous food and drink.

Many thanks Mia - will have to go in search of more vineyards to combine with a walk and getting to know the local 'terroir'!
