What a beautiful place. So serene, peaceful and uplifting. It has a fascinating history, fantastic vaulted ceilings and lovely stained glass windows. We've lived close to Romsey for over three years but this is only the second time we've visited the Abbey (the first was to a christening and we were focussed on the font and, basically, ignored the rest... Visiting a friend who recently moved into the area, we walked round charming Romsey and into the Abbey. There we were surprised and delighted by the warm greeting from the volunteer stewards. One of them handed us an excellent guide to the Abbey, quite one of the best I've ever seen. A folded C5 sheet opens out to show an... More

Nice place to visit with fascinating stories and lovely stained glass windows. Unfortunately, the first time we tried to visit there was a wedding taking place so we had to return on another day!

I often go to Romsey Abbey on my own and with my Grandson, who loves it there. It gives one time to chill and reflect on life. A special place.

A very atmospheric and interesting place with some incredible history - the Saxon Rood, (which is a little carving of the Crucifixion), and a Saxon plait of hair, are two of the most amazing things to see here. The leaflet handed out by the volunteers will point you in the direction of other things you shouldn't miss, such as the... More

When we entered two very kind and helpful ladies handed us a leaflet which had a suggested route and was absolutely invaluable because it highlighted various interesting points around the Abbey that we would have missed, like the pew used by members of the Mountbatten family and the eleventh century Rood outside. When we came out my companion admitted he... More

In May 2016 we have visited Romsey in Hampshire and the very nice and interesting Abbey in this town. Worth a visit when you are in the area.

As I live locally, I've popped into the abbey many times, just for a brief look each time. There's so much to see. When you enter, the friendly volunteer guides give you a leaflet, and asks where you are from. When we went, there was some fabulous organ music being played, and I was told he was a well-known organist... More

A great place to go and not only see the architecture but a place of peace and quite from the busy life that we lead.
