If you're in New Forest on a holiday, and want to know a bit more about the place you're visiting, I would 100% recommend visiting the Heritage Centre. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff and really interesting information.

The museum isn’t large but what is particularly interesting is the part the forest played during the Second World War. If you are visiting Lyndhurst it’s well worth voiding for about half an hour.

A great little place to take the kids, learn about the new forest and surrounding areas! Lots of interactive things for the kids to do! And in the quaint little village of Lyndhurst, what could be better

The museum at the New Forest Centre provides a good introduction to the local area for people who do not live locally. However, for local people like me there really isn't much that I didn't already know. Having said that, this review is for the...More

We're sorry to hear that you feel this way. The Centre has now changed its name to the New Forest Heritage Centre which will help to clarify our aims and objectives. We are a small independent charity and the gift shop exists to fund the...More

This is such an interesting, information filled and fascinating museum. It teaches visitors, young and old, so much about the inhabitants and habitat of the Forest. Well worth the visit

This was the first place we went to in Lyndhurst. Partly due to it being next to the car park but also as it has a helpful information centre, small museum and cafe. If you're in the New Forest I'd recommend you stop in here.

Thank you for your positive review. The New Forest Heritage Centre is an independent, charity-run museum, gallery and reference library, not a dedicated tourist information centre. We're pleased that our friendly staff were able to hep out with your information requirements.

Informative museum, (which was entry by donation) friendly staff. Good, well stocked gift shop, including maps and other leaflets, literature etc on the area. Cafe also inside.

Try the little tea house in the New Forest Centre. Lovely friendly service but what sets it apart is the amazing tea. Be prepared for a little theatre - the tea is served out of the bottom of the tea pot! The cakes are scrumptious....More

We agree that the tea and cakes in Tip Leaf & Bean Cafe are yummy! It's hard to resist giving in to temptation! We're pleased you enjoyed your visit, and will pass on your feedback to our friends in the cafe.

Good place to visit if you are in Lyndhurst. Situated conveniently in the car park. Interesting museum with free entry. Also has a cafe if you need a coffee.
