We were pleasantly surprised by how expansive the gardens are, had a wonderful time discovering all of the different areas. After a very helpful introduction by the gentleman on the ticket desk, we followed the suggested route and don't think we missed anything, allow plenty of time. There is a wide range of types of garden and woodland spaces, including some rare and unusual trees and shrubs. The tearoom was perfectly adequate with very friendly staff.

Beautiful. The gardens are stunning! Lovely walk over the fields to a stream, so quiet. The garden has plants for sale too and all good quality. The tea rooms are amazing, hubby had the brunch, I had coffee cake and a cuppa. The cake was the best I've ever tasted. Will definitely be back!

Our second visit here, although the first was pre-Covid and some time ago. The gardens are lovely - especially loved the rockery area as I'm a sucker for ferns and hostas. This time we did the full walk across to, and around the woods which are beautiful and would be lovely on a hot day. We are determined to come back early next year to see the rhododendrons! Didn't try the tea room, but the plants for sale were very healthy and reasonably priced.

Strange place really as it appears initially a friendly place however some staff are quite abrupt and certainly not customer focused.
The cafe food is ok but basic choice and some items are quite poor, coffee isn't that good and not made well.
Whatever you don't do is use the disabled facility if you don't use a wheelchair as you will get shouted out! Even if you do have mobility issues and can not walk all the way to the outside facility some distance from the cafe.

Even on damp afternoon this was well worth a visit.
We had a great look around and then had tea and cake.

We spent a couple of hours here today, and experienced a gentle amble through the grounds to look at a large and varied collection of trees, shrubs and flowers.

Fantastic place which is well laid out so that one can see almost everything from the gravel paths so no wet feet if it has been raining.

Today the weather was great with a lot of sun. Even at this time of year there is much to see and admire in the beautiful garden. There were a few trees beginning to show autumn colours which added a lot of contrast to the grounds.

The tearoom is excellent as well.

Many thanks for your lovely review. As you say even if you only can sit on the terrace in the tearoom you feel energised when you leave. Hope to see you again.

This is mainly about the trees, so there is not a lot of colour other than greens. However, it is well laid out and plenty to walk around and plenty to be interested in.

The Kitchen Garden was particularly good and for some reason very fragrant. Nice to see the different varieties of fruit, especially the smaller apples - useful if you are only making small pies.

The cafe offers good range of drinks and simple fare, including a kids menu.

Overall, good value for money

Many thanks for your review. Unfortunately, like so many gardens, we have suffered with the extreme heat this year. The autumn colours are always worth a visit and earlier in the year when the rhododendrons, cornus etc are out. I'm glad you enjoyed the tearooms.
