Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I took a group of around 20 U3A members around. This is an excellent exhibition, not just for those interested in New towns, like northstowe in cambridgeshire

Wow didn't know Letchworth Garden City had so much going on from long ago. Worth a visit just to see how Letchworth has developed over the years and what use to go on in the town and what is going on now. It is great for all ages but the very young might find it a bit boring, but just down the road is a lovely on splash park with ice cream.

This is a simple question, but has connotations for all of us. The exhibition helps us to understand what happened, why and how. There is a nice blend of modern technology with images and words to tell the story. The building itself is a piece of history and has been carefully restored particularly the office of Richard Parker. The staff were friendly and helpful.
And it is free!
And it is free!

This small, free museum, explains the foundation of Letchworth as the first in the Garden Cities movement. There are good quality boards with decent information and the arts and crafts style studio and office of the garden city founder. There is a small library with free tea and coffee. It’s a very interesting place to visit if you are in Letchworth as you can’t fail to notice the leafiness of the town, the tree lined avenues and the village green type spaces. It’s inspiring to see inspiration come to fruition and thought provoking about how town planning should be in the future. It’s not big so recommend around 30 mins

We were at a loose end and there is not a great deal of entertainment to be had in Letchworth on a Friday morning so went to this little museum. We were really happy we did.
It’s all about the history of the garden city movement - which was a social experiment in the early to mid 20th century to provide a decent place to live for both manual workers and middle managers. Letchworth Garden City is the first in England.
The museum was small but gives you a good feel for what the designers were wanting to do and why. There was some lovely old film of garden cites being explained to a post WW2 generation.
Well worth 30 - 45 mins. No charge and about 10 minutes walk from the town centre.

Great to see letchworth garden city in the flow of town planning before and after. I recommend asking the person on duty if they are local afterwards.

It looks as if all political parties are committed to developing many more new towns to solve the housing crisis, so my visit was particularly valuable as I live next to the rapidly growing new town of Northstowe, 6 miles west of Cambridge.

International garden cities exhibition very interesting. Was not aware they were based on towns built for factory workers. Useful to see where the other garden cities are in the world.

Joined a walking tour of LGC led by Josh from the Garden Cities Exhibition. Very knowledgeable guide and interesting 2.5 hour walk. Quite a lot of walking but well paced - starting at TIC in town and finishing at Exhibition. Runs once a month on Saturday am. Highly recommended.

Are there lots of gardens in a garden city.
Written 8 March 2017
Yes! It's called Letchworth Garden City as every house has a front and back garden. There are also parks, commons and green spaces.
