Had a brilliant evening on the Thursday Gin Tour, which had been gifted to my friend. It was fascinating to discover the journey of Ben and Kate’s business, and all of the trials and tribulations, which built up to us all being desperate to try the gin! The fact it is made with so much care makes it even more special and drinkable. It was lovely to try two cocktails and to sample all of the gins on offer - Ben explained what we should be getting from the botanicals. We could ask questions - even silly ones - and have an opportunity to purchase the products. Great branding and you get your glass for free! Wonderful local business that we should all support. Now off to grow some juniper bushes…

When we first moved to Tring, at the of 2016, this distillery was just opening. I thought I should support a new venture in my local community so went and bought a bottle or two. Ben and Kate were very friendly & welcoming & had just three gins on offer - a London Dry, a Cask Aged and a Navy.
I tried them all but the Cask Aged became my firm favourite. Soon they were introducing a wider range, including (seasonally) a pink gin coloured by Himalayan Balsam flowers, an invasive species which Ben & Kate go out and help to clear. Now they have events like tastings and their gazebo bar can often be seen out in the community at local events providing a welcome tipple. The warm toddy at winter events can be most welcome.

Booked the 2-hour distillery tour and tasting but this was not a tour - it was actually a lecture which can only be described as very intense and serious. What a shame there wasn't an opportunity to chat and mingle more informally and perhaps Ben could have stepped out from behind his counter and joined the participants for a drink and a bit of free-form banter/feedback on the gins (which are excellent). The bench seating was incredibly uncomfortable for 2 hours (difficult for anyone with back problems). It was a nice evening but felt it could really benefit from 'lightening up' a little. How about a few dry snacks to go with the gins as well? Great that the toilet facilities have been improved at WIlstone - a bonus!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that did not enjoy the event as much as all other reviewers have but we do take on board your comments. We try to provide a tour that fits in the history of the distillery, processes, the history behind the gins we produce, what the applications of those gins are, our sustainability practises along with 2 drinks and sampling of 4 products, discussions about botanicals etc. Basically everything for someone who wants a deep dive into our business with full transparency. This is quite an undertaking for 2 staff in 2 hours. Unfortunately it leaves little time for banter, something we'd love to do but are conscious it would potentially mean not having time to chat to everyone or answer everyones questions, thus leaving some folks feeling they might have been ignored. We do on every occasion ask attendees whether they have any questions at the end. Some folks do, some do not. In the same way some nights there is more engagement from the crowd than others. We want engagement as much as attendees do. We do try to steer away from generic history of gin, how to serve it etc as this information can be found on most other tours. Instead we focus on what makes our award winning gins and distillery unique. We would love to hear what you feel could be removed from the tour and what can be added to improve your experience. For the benefit of anyone reading this review, the toilets are nothing to do with us. They are a shared facility on the site where our distillery is located, but agreed, they are so much better and provide full wheelchair accessibility, as does our distillery. We should also like to clarify that it is not 2 hours without getting up. Drinks are served from 8.00 with no-one required to sit until about 8.10 (assuming everyone arrives on time). There is another break at about 9.00 for approx 15 minutes whilst we serve a second round of drinks. There are also high stools and standing space available. Ben & Kate.

Great visit to Puddingstone Distillery this week, with a warm welcome from Kate and Ben who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their gins. It's difficult to choose a favourite, but Ash does like the Navy Strength!
We've also previously joined two online events, which were well organised and great fun.
We'll be back for more Campfire Gin supplies soon!

Thank you Berttie2015, yes sometimes people do find it hard to choose their favourite Campfire Gin which is why we love for people to visit the gin distillery shop and take part in a gin tasting experience! So pleased to hear you love them all though! Not a bad thing!

There are two good reasons to visit the Meads Farm Shop complex at Wilstone. One is the Farm Shop and the other is the Puddingstone Distillery. The Distillery offers a core range of four gins under the label of ‘Campfire’ with various specials available throughout the year. One of their seasonal gins even helps the environment as it uses Himalayan balsam flowers as one of the ingredients. A double victory - it helps remove a nasty weed and the gin tastes good! Owners Ben and Kate also offer evening tours and gin/food events.
