This wonderful ancient house contains a huge amount of local artefacts. Displays are spread over three floors and, for me, the highlight was the amazing collection of stuffed birds - of all shapes and sizes. Admission is free but, after such a fascinating tour around the displays, it is hard to leave without showing appreciation by leaving a donation.

What a lovely surprise to find such an interesting and well presented museum in a village. It is tucked out of the way In a side street but clearly signposted. Park in the village and walk. Open in the afternoon and staffed by volunteers, entrance free but donations welcome and well deserved. When we visited there were no other visitors!... More

A fascinating collection of objects reflecting a wide range of local trades through time and other historical artefacts. Lots to see and run by volunteers.

Cranbrook museum is a total gem. My only regret is that I haven't been there in the last 20 years. We popped in to have a look with 2 boys aged 8 and they absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful building housing so many interesting and historical artefacts. It is donation rather than admission fee and well worth a visit.

Well stacked with a wide range of exhibits depicting local life and development. Many artefacts left by local wealthy families.

Cute little museum of local history with loads of interesting things. Portraying family life in the country and tools that were used, local trades and services, local art and artists, costumes and so on. The bird collection is supposed to be the largest in Kent.

What a gem. So glad we went. A trip down memory lane. Cant wait to go back to take more time to look around. Set in a lovely house and gardens.

Although we are local we hadn't visited for ages and not since its refurbishment. Had forgotten how much there was to see - lots of exhibits, mainly relating to local industries such as wool, hops etc. All contained over 3 floors in a wonderful 15th century house, set in a quiet little garden and tucked away behind the high street.... We're not great fans of museums, but this one was well worth the visit and we spent longer there than anticipated. Provides so much really interesting history of Cranbrook and the local area through the ages in a comfortable and not too taxing way.
