Deal beach is a shingle quite large pebble beach the castle side of the pier has a steep drop just few feet into the water and continues to drop to make a deep area of water excellent for swimming but quite severe for young kids. Children should head along the beach on the other side of the beach beyond the... More
This beach is not sandy, pebbles only, but it is clean and quite long. We walked right along the seafront and all the way to Walmer castle - there are walkways and cycle paths almost all the way. Obviously you wouldn't do this on the beach itself but the promenade makes it an easier prospect. Plentiful benches to stop for... More
Good beach right by the town centre, gently sloping iinto the sea. Backed by shops and restuarants with a lovely pier with a great cafe at the end. Good to walk to Walmer.
It's a shame this beach has no sand. You have to travel 10 miles or so north for that. Brilliant on one of those rare sunny days especially near the main square where the pubs are. Best view is looking back from the pier.
We walked the length of the beach from Deal Castle to Sandown fort. We were impressed how clean the promenade was. Additionally there many benches located along its length, all donated by friends and families of lost ones who had spent much time there. A lovely day.

If you expecting lots of attractions or a place to build sand castles then this isn't the place for you. However you will get good views, maybe of France on a good day and especially at night when you can see... More
We stopped at the seafront in Deal, and found the cobbled beach lovely. The beach is easy to access from the castle area, and there is a nice promenade and loads of benches looking out to sea. The seafront also gives the flavour of local culture, and the fishing boats make a great photo attraction.
