Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely looking pub, nice interior. Don't you dare ask for a 0% alcoholic drink though. I asked if they had alcohol free gin and was told that that was called tonic water, which is just a ridiculous comment. Wouldn't hurt to just have one 0% gin for people who don't want to drink/are driving, would it. For a first time there I was not made feel welcome at all, which I'm sure they don't care about anyway as I'm not a local.

Literally shocked and disappointed at the defensive landlady's response to a genuine mistake! Our dog ended up with a sticker hanging on his face near his mouth from her floor so I picked him up to remove said sticker (possible choking hazard) the dog yelped and ran onto our coats (not the seat) and the barman shouted (rudely) for us to get him off. When we left and attempted to explain the why the huffy arrogant response from the land lady left us with a distinctly this a local pub for local people taste, the pub is cosy and warm though this is definitely not the characteristic of the proprietor!

In my view this is the benchmark for what a traditional English pub should be. A beautiful building warm and welcoming with a great selection of Ales. Popular with locals and a venue I always aim for if I'm visiting Faversham.

If you want the trots or something to put on your chips, drink the beer in here. Got daggers as we came in by the ‘locals’. The beer was one of the worst pints I’ve ever had. Stunk of wet dog in there as well.

Great beer and building. Loved the garden in the Summer. Lots of Naval memorabilia for decoration which I assume is connected to the owner? The bar staff are great but I've been told the owner is a bit of a grouch. There is something a little unpleasant about the place which comes from the clientele. It all seems a bit Brexit for me with lots of smug Faversham people telling everyone how great they are. Should be delightful but it just isn't.

The pub is lovely, however, the staff are unfriendly, very very rude and need some training in customer service. We took our dog to this "pet friendly" pub, and we put him on top of our coats on the seat ans was rudely shouted at to take him off. Now we understand some pubs don't like them on their furniture which is fine, however, there are ways of telling customers instead of shouting abusively across the bar... So when telling the women behind the bar that we didn't appreciate being shouted at we got no apology for that (no surprise) she just said oh well Goodbye. A nice gesture would have been to say sorry you were spoken to like that, but oh no.

Enjoyed a couple of exceptional pints of real ale in The Elephant today. As usual it proves a great place to chill and relax. Real fire, real ale, real landlord, real staff, real customers, real good. Well done Jim, been vising for 12 years now, and it is blissfullly consistent.

Visiting Faversham for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and came across this lovely little pub. Very Friendly staff and spent Friday evening sitting in the garden in the sunshine listening to a live band.....perfect. Would highly recommend and will be going back, very soon

Went today hoping for some decent beer. Not in vain, I had a pint of Saxon Strong - it was really good. Followed by a half of Mighty Oak - not a patch on the Saxon. Lovely, simple two room pub, friendly with a choice of types of seating. We sat in ‘old gits corner’. A vast amount of wall decoration of Royal Navy memorabilia.
Only gripe is a strong smell in the ladies - I am intolerant of many scents.
We will be back.

Trekked to the other end of town to find this pub with its great reputation, only to be offered pumped Aspalls or bottled cider.
It's clearly a nice pub with a good atmosphere early on a Saturday evening. Service was nice and friendly.
But that was a real let-down.
