We regularly visit here with children, grandparents and dog. It is pricey but the rover ticket means you can use the trains all day in any direction. There is a turntable at Hythe. Lovely sandy beaches. Little fun fair at Dymchurch is well worth a visit as the rides aren't over priced. Suits small children. Lovely cafe at Romney and... More

Very nice afternoon out on the little trains, recommend a hot chocolate at the Britannia pub at Dungeness on a cold winter's day .

The RHDR is always a pleasure, however many times we use it. The model railway and exhibition at New Romney seems better than ever and for railway enthusiasts it had a great collection of books for sale on our last visit. The cafe there is a good spot to take on refreshment. The railway car park at Hythe has been... More

We visited the RH&DR in January and joined the first train of the morning from Dungeness to Hythe. The station at Dungeness also includes a large cafe with friendly staff. The only let down was that the chip and pin machine rejected all three of our cards (all accounts had money in them) and we were told that this is... More

For the past 88 years the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway has been an integral part of the landscape of the Romney Marsh. Known as “Kent’s Mainline in Miniature”, the World famous one-third full size Steam & Diesel locomotives have powered their way along the 13½ miles of track from the Cinque Port town of Hythe, terminating in Dungeness; a... We visited the railway on a very cold day between Christmas and New Year with friends and family and it was a great day for all. The steam trains are in fantastic order and the staff are so helpful and full of knowledge to answer all the questions we had. We travelled from Dymchurch to Dungeness Power Station. We had... More

We have been coming to the railway for many years and our train ride yesterday, 2/1/17, as unique was ever. In recent years we have made a point of coming at New Year for a treat of fish and chips. We were very disappointed to arrive at around 12pm at Dungeness to be told we could only have chips, stew... More

We went as a family (4 adults and 1 three year old). Wonderful ride on the train, well organised event at the other end, with Santa arriving on a steam train for all the kids to see, and then groups split up to avoid congestion with refreshments (mulled wine, sausage roll and mince pie per person) all included in the...
